Default Who should be BD test captain?

Although we have done fairly well in recent Test results I feel there is something missing in leadership for the test team. Do you not agree?

Here in our BC community, what is our collective feelings on this subject? Put forth your reasons if you think there should be a captain change. I can surely argue on both sides.

Argument for Musfique:

Don't chop change leadership. Stability is more important for improvement. Send him to captaincy training or something. Or get a Great captain and let Mushfique spend some time with him.

He is the best bat we got. May be take his WK responsibility for him to concentrate on captaincy.

(I typed it up with a straight face, lol)

Miraz: The boy's name should be sponge. He takes in all that is thrown at him. U-19 experience.

Too young? How old was G Smith when he took over the captaincy? How many senior senior player was in the team? Miraz is a natural leader. Unless you put him there you wouldn't know how talented and inspiring he can be.

I love Miraz and he is matured

But Miraz hasn't showed maturity with the bat just yet and unless he starts doing so I won't be convinced

Miraz is useless on pitches that doesn't offer much turn, Unless he improves his batting and get that avg upto 30-35 I dont see we picking him outside Asia.

your captain needs to be a first choice

Looks like Rahim is a mentally challenged person with some symptom of village idiot with a track record of selfishness. He cannot be a good leader or a role model for the young players.

He is completely opposite of what Mashrafee is as a captain.

Short Term, even they are not perfect, Tamim or sakib would be a good choice. In the mean time BCB should groom a new Captain out of the new breed of players like Miraj/Nazmul or someone else.

Let me be the devil's advocate here.

Shak Fu: Needs rest time to time. Will retire from Test cricket sooner than you think. Will chew up people if not performing (miss fielding etc.) on live TV. Will grow few extra wings for sure.

Tamim: I am not sure how much more matured he has become than Mushfiq. Did you see him play the last ball of the day? Marginal difference of damn caring of 121/4 to 127/3. The risk was astronomical. Played like a pro bowler.

Sabbir. The future of BD. Groom him.

His eyes!!!! Eye of the Tiger....

We need one who can take over in all formats. He is getting the consistency done soon.

Shakib is the natural leader of this bunch. However, making him the official captain will mean Papon will have to intervene lot more frequently with all these head butting Hathuru and Shakib will get into.

At least Shafiul had the lowest econ rate.

Why is Imrul in the team? Why is Sabbir in the team? Possibly to give cover to the coach to unfairly drop Mominul and Mosaddek at the earliest convenience?

There are way too many questionable selections.

If Riyad and Sabbir dont get 50s...they need to pay. Really you want bigger scores but lets settle for 50s forst.

Miraz is my first option.

But the likely outcome would be Tamim.

why are we even talking about Shabbir and Miraz? Shabbir doesnt even warrant a place in the 14 let alone be a captain. He doesnt even understand the format and its just Haturi's stupidity he is in the team. It will take a long time before he even gets the format. Miraz.. i said it before and i will say it again.... he is a potential leader of the future but right now, he is young, inexperienced. His batting is still unpredictable and his bowling needs a lot of aid from the condition to be effective.

Its between Shak and Tam for the role and I would give it to Tamim. I think their captaincy skills are similar but Tamim is a more professional personal and will also keep a lot of unnecessary swag and bias away compared to Shakib

To get this thread longer? May not be everyone's cup of tea. They got votes though.

Nothing is missing from the leadership. Mushy is the best leader we've got right now. But as usual few of my friends here r trying to make him the culprit for our horrendous performance in south africa, but the truth is he hasn't done much wrong in this test.

Mahmudullah Ryad is the only captaincy mterial we hve.
He will be the opposite of Mushy, not mny runs but better captaincy.

Agree with this. BUT Gadha can't score runs in test cricket.

Otherwise, would have been clear favourite for the captaincy.

Apart from your first sentence I have to agree.

But if a change is required then Tamim could be a replacement. Don't think Shakib wants the job.
