Match Thread: Duleep Trophy: BCB XI vs Central Zone
Bangladesh has nothing at stake except pride
Monday, February 28 2005 15:47 Hrs (IST)
New Delhi: Almost out of contention after a severe drubbing in their opening match, Bangladesh would be hoping to restore some pride when they take on Central Zone the Duleep Trophy cricket league match at the Railway cricket ground in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The visitors, only the second international team after England 'A' to participate in the country's premier domestic event, would be hoping to put up a much improved show in the next four days, though a win against their in form opponents look most unlikely.
On the other hand, Central can afford to play for a draw and book their berth in the final to be played at Nagpur from March 8 as they have defeated East Zone in their opening league encounter at Gwalior.
The hosts would be missing the services of their skipper Mohammad Kaif as he has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Board President XI against Pakistan at Dharmashala in a three-day tour match starting on March 3.
In his absence, all-rounder J P Yadav would lead the team that boasts of the likes of Murali Kartik, Harvinder Singh and others.
The Bangladesh squad arrived in the capital on Sunday morning and held a training session at the Karnail Singh stadium while the Central Zone team members came together only on Monday morning.

Hi All! Seems like Rajin Saleh is going to miss the match again. He appearantly developed measels (a viral illness), and will be flying back home. Hope he gets well soon, and hope the rest of our guys will put up a good fight tonight.

Good for him. The further someone can stay from this team (in Duleep trophy), the better it is for own career.

Measles! Allah have mercy on him!
It is a tough desease if you are a grown up person.
I got chicken pox myself last year and it was a harrowing experience. (I guess measles would be something similar too.)
Hopefully Rajin would get a good treatment and be ready before the England tour.

They are flying in a bowler from Bangladesh. Since we have nothing to win or lose we are going for a record of playing the maximum number of bowlers ever.

Nothing much to expect from this match.
Key players (like Rajin/Nazmul) are injured... rest are not in form. A struggling team I would say.

hope they do good this time. Since Rajin and Nazmul are injured why they can just replace them and get more batsmen...

A tiny agonizing detail to nag about...
Excuse me but why is this team called Bangladesh in the above article? It is BCB XI.

I think they use "Bangladesh" just to associate the visiting team with the country.
No one implies that it is a Bangladesh National Team or anything.

Let us face it. Arguably the original team (without the injuries and sickness) was close to national strength. At least on paper this was a stronger team than Bangladesh-A team. So what is in a name? There would have been no issue if the team performed well against the East team. It seems there is an effort to disengage from this team.

1st step: Stop visiting all cricket related site.
2nd step: No Bangladeshi newspaper khelar khobor or TV news khelar khobor for 1 week.
3rd step: Don't visit Banglacricket until the England tour. When the England tour starts nobody will remember this.
Thats all you need to do.
