Flintoff named in World XI squads
Flintoff has never appeared in a Test against Australia
Flintoff has never appeared in a Test against Australia
Test squad
ODI squad
Andrew Flintoff is the only England player selected in both the Test and one-day World squads for October's ICC Super Series against Australia.
Steve Harmison, Andrew Strauss and Michael Vaughan are in the 30 for the Test match in Sydney on 14 October.
And Kevin Pietersen, who burst onto the international scene in January, is a surprise in the one-day squad.
Veteran Darren Gough and vice-captain Marcus Trescothick make up the England contingent, both in the one-day squad.
Surely there should be a chance of a rethink after this summer's international programme

"The panel is confident that these are the best combinations of players," said chief selector Sunil Gavaskar.
The World XI will take on Australia in a three-match one-day series in Melbourne on 5, 7 and 9 October, with a six-day Test to follow.
The two squads will be trimmed to just 20 names in early July before the final squads are announced in August, but other names could be added from outside of the 30.

well the thing is that if in the selection committee there was one bangladeshi for example atahar then probably we would have seen rafique. but we didnt have any representatives there which makes sense because in the selection committee there were former cricket stars such as gavaskar, aravinda and atahar doesnt fall there.

Gavasker talked about why Tatenda Taibu was not in the team even though playing good. But he was silent about Bangladeshi players.

i think atleast one bangladeshi player should have been there. but ofcourese we cannot expect that because you got to understand who picked the team. indians in front claim to be our friends but deep down they dont like us. mohammed rafique could have been in that team. khaled mashud could have been in that team. masrafee and and even habibur bashar could have been in either oneday or test squad. its really dissapointed to see that no bangladeshi player. but its ok the day isnt too far when people start giving respect to bangladeshi cricket. next time we visit england the airport will be full of english media but we need to earn respect from these idoits with our performance.

u r rite. enough of this ignorance and this one sided policy. hopefully our players will be able to end this soon. for the sake of theirselves and for the sake of the country. they have to prove them and show gavashkar that what an idiot he is not to take players from our team. bhotka beta. bodmaish. kotodin conspiracy korbe. we will show them. harsilo na dhakay eshe. shikkha hoi nai.

Screw Gavaskar and his selection
At least one among Mashrafee/Rafique/Bashar deserved to be in the 30 players' list.

I was surprised as well not to see the name of Chris Cairns in the ODI squad. Now, there is an Aussie killer for you. Also, I thought SA was over represented. They have struggeled in recent times ( no disrespect to WI ) against every oppenent except the West Indies.
I think Whatmore has a legitimate gripe and Mashrafee should have been considered for the initial 39 man squad.

In fact, the one certainty from Bangladesh should have been Mashud. The others , not yet. Even if you go by rankings, Rafique is at No. 24
Sangakara will get the spot because of his batting. I believe, over all, Mashud is the best keeper [ only as a keeper ] in the world, right now !
