Default Rick Stein's food odyssey through Bangladesh

there is less actual cooking in this wonderful series through the far east. last week was an hour on srilanka and tonight it was bangladesh. i hope that one of the regulars would be able to upload it to youtube for those who might not have access to the bbc i player.

amar bou Ilish maas, kumra, palong shak diya ransey. Maas'ta ato freash ar mishti... unbelievable.

Would like to see what he is choosing to taste. Does he go around the city area or rural areas?

Any way for us non-UK folks to watch this? It sounds pretty damn good.

the most funniest moment was when he went to the maas bazar, somehow that place seems very familiar, it seemed like sunamgonj maas bazar.
Another funny comment is "machoo jol" LOL, the way he said it is hilarious.
The most annoying part was the guy from manchester, he sounded so dumb and how the hell is food in the UK more tastier than back home, you can not beat the taste of fresh fish from the maas bazar (really fresh ones that are still alive).

Hahaha agree with you. Those two british raised guys were a bit odd. No way the food in bangladesh is tasteless.....

Thanks for the upload, goru... I was considering downloading it off uknova or someplace. Enjoyed watching this.... Much better as a "travel" show than ones such as Michael Palin's HImalaya that seemed to be a bit haphazard and directionless in what he wanted to portray. Wonderful in that they chose to highlight BD as apart from "India" and its cuisine, which probably contrasted our cuisine against the Southeast Asian ones quite well perhaps. It was brilliant how he was genuinely amazed by the plethora of fish, and being constantly reminded about the different freshwater fish dishes.

Considering its Ramadan, maybe I should start anticipating shatkora beef (without the bamboo'd rice) in some dinner or other from my Sylhoti side of the family.

the syleti british kids would have grown up in uk eating much better quality food than what might be served back in their village homes.

For that matter the man at the Kabir family home was almost incomprehensible at times. Very posh lingo and demeanour, but useless talking like that if people cant understand you, man!

i am assuming that he had been through public school (very expensive boarding school) and perhaps later to one of the oxbridge colleges. i found his wife rather puzzling though as that was a distinctive put on accent to match the husband's natural rp (received pronunciation/former bbc/queen's english).

You think so? I'm quite certain I've heard her sort of accent off the BBC World Service and found her's pretty consistent in comparison. I must concede though, you have been in England for the most part of your life, so you'd probably know it better.

Honestly, having watched this bit of the program a few times over, I still dont know what the man is saying the second time round Rick talks to him. :-s
