Well done BD. I think we just lack a little bit in the bowling section .... out strike bowlers are out of the field. Tapash didn't play and tareq gave 62 runs to bag only one wicket. Our other best simmers are not even in the team. If we could show a bit better performance on the bowling dept. we could have booked the lankan 3rd grader with in 150. I hope bangladesh will perform better in the up coming matches.

BD 129 run win over the Sri Lanka \'A\' - 2 team ???
Morale boosting win for B'desh
The Bangladesh national cricket team who are currently touring Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup limited overs tournament, scored a morale boosting 129 run win over the Sri Lanka 'A' - 2 team in a one day warm up match played at the Police Park in Bambalapitiya yesterday.
The visitiors piled up a commanding 265 for 7 from their 50 overs with Asharaful stroking a delightful 125 from 134 balls with 18 fours. He also put on 107 runs for the fourth wicket along with I. Hossein who missed his half century by a single run.
The home team in reply made a promising start but lost wickets at regular intervals and collapsed to 136 for 9 against some accurate bowling from Mahamoob and Rahaman.
Shantha Kalawitigoda provided the only threat to Bangladesh with a top score of 63 from 83 balls which also included two sixes and seven boundaries.
Bangladesh: 265 for 7 in 50 overs J. Omar 22, N. Ashraful 125, F. Hossein 49, Hasantha Fernando 2 for 56, Manoj Chanaka 2 for 54, Tharanga Lakshitha 2 for 37)
Sri Lanka 'A' - 2: 136 for 9 in 50 overs (Michael van Dort 23, Shantha Kalawitigoda 63, Jeewan Mendis 33, T. Lokuwita 26 n.o, M. Mahamoob, 2 for 25, M. Rahaman 2 for 38) C.D.

Quote from the above source. It indicates a total of atleast 145 runs (63+23+33+26).
Something is wrong here.

BD win margin
Guys, this newspaper is obviously not very accurate with its facts. Instead of the 236 Srilanka innings they used 136 and hence they calculated a win margin that is 100 runs more than it really was. BD won by 29 runs and not by 129 although I wish it had been the latter.

I agree. If we add up the runs given up by our bowlers the score crosses 200! Any way you look at it the newspaper is wrong...unfortunately!

Considering standard of SriLankan domestic cricket this team is not below par at all. Congrats to Tigers. Way to go.

If these practise games are 50 overs, and they are Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka 'A', then shouldn't these games be LIST A and therefore counted towards statistics?

News about Bangladesh win in practice match (link here)

Morale boosting win for Bangladesh ahead of Asia Cup
Associated Press
Colombo, July 7
Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar said that a morale boosting win against a Sri Lanka 'A' team has raised the confidence of his team ahead of the Asia Cup."My players are all 100 per cent fit and we are ready to have a go at any side," Bashar said.
Bangladesh scored 265 for the loss of seven wickets off 50 overs Tuesday with most runs coming from the bat of Mohammad Ashraful, who scored 125 off 134 balls including 18 fours.
Ashraful also put on 107 runs for the fourth wicket with Foisal Hossein who missed his half century by one run.
The home team in reply made a promising start but lost wickets at regular intervals and collapsed to 136 for 9 against some accurate bowling from Khaled Mahamood and Mushfiqur Rahaman. Bangladesh, which has never won an Asia cup encounter, will play Hong Kong in the tournament's opening match on July 16. It will also face Pakistan in the first round. Other countries taking part are India, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates.
Bangladesh ended a five-year losing streak in one-day matches in March, defeating Zimbabwe in Harare. It also came close to beating the West Indies last month, but lost by one wicket. Bangladesh had previously only ever won three one-day games - against Pakistan, Kenya and Scotland.

BD won the toss and elected to bat. It is the standard BD choice in one day matches. BD should elect to chase if they win the toss in next practice matches. They can certainly do with some practice of chasing because they cannot seem to win an ODI while chasing.

everyone is entitled to their opinions navaerene, and what pundit has said is quite correct FOR ODI matches in OFFICIAL TOURNAMENTS. BUT, like many have said we HAVE TO BE ANALYTICAL for practice mathces or how will we ever learn or improve, we need to do this for the present and the future.
But like in the WC or In Asia Cup, winning is all that matters, doesnt matter how, and if we learn and analyse our performences from the pracitce matches, we will be not only be winning, but actually convincingly.

Hi everybody!
I just started to post here recently,
don't know much about cricket yet.
May be it's too late to make a comment on this practice match though.
Nice to see that Ashraful made an excellent score after a long time.
I really like to see more constant performance from him.
( Hope not he already used his all the
luck )
Although we don't know the whole picture of the game yet
but seems we lost 5 wicket for 91.
I wonder what was the score of Habibul, Rajin, Javed.
Except Ashraful & Faisal, it could be the old story.
