Below are the list of development work taking place at SBNCS (Mirpur Stadium),
Civil Work ( Tk 23 cr ) - NDE
Shed ( Tk 10 cr ) - Rupatali Builders
Floodlight ( Tk 20 cr ) - JV of NDE & Abacus Lighting(UK)
http://www.abacuslighting.com/sports...?sport=cricket
Chair & Ground Equipment ( Tk 15 cr ) - Delco Business Associates
E. Scoreboard & Screen ( 7 cr ) - MAK Consortium
It may be mentioned here that,
User of SBNCS - BCB
Department responsibile for development work - NSC
Consultant of SBNCS - Bashat
The consultancy fee of SBNCS (Mirpur Stadium) is being paid by BCB as Bashat was BCB's own consultant since BCB began work to convert the football stadium to a cricket stadium a few years back.
In the other four stadiums (fatullah, cht div std, khul, div std & bangabandhu std), the consultany fee is being paid by NSC.
The contractors of Mirpur stadium got the work orders on the first week of March. Since then no work could be done due to problems with BCB, NSC and the consultant. The consultant was originally appointed during BNP era when Coco and others were in control of BCB. Since then Bashat had been working with BCB for all development work. But the president is not happy to continue with a consultant who was appointed by Coco and Lobby. Payments of the consultant for previous work have not been cleared and this led to the consultant to not cooperate with the contractors for the present development work. There is also a tug of war between Tutul and Lotus Kamal over the control of the board. Initially Tutul sided with the consultant and this has made the president even more adamant to create problems with the consultant Bashat. NSC director Rahman and Sports Minster Ahad Ali tried to resolve the problem but failed so far.
About the development works,
No approval have yet been given to Delco about the chairs they proposed to install and as a result they are yet to order their chairs from the foreign manufacturers.
The floodlight layout plan and tubular floodlight structure have not been approved by NSC/Bashat yet even though 2 months have passed since Abacus submitted them. Abacus (UK) who have done the floodlight work of Lords, Oval & Trent Bridge are very frustrated about the working conditions. They are also working in India with Bajaj Electricals for the floodlight of the Mumbai venue where the final will be taking place and there they have almost completed the works.
Also NDE and Ruptali are unable to do the civil and shed development work conveniently as the consultant are reluctant to provide drawings and design unless all dues are cleared by BCB.
It's very sad to see Lotus Kamal and Arefin Tutul are giving priority to petty politics and not national interest.
If this problem is not resolved quickly then the chances of world cup matches taking place at Mirpur stadium is slim and then dont blame the contractor, dont blame the consultant but blame the politicians running the cricket board.
