As far as I remember when BD got a wicket.. We had bangla commentary even in the English room. Can Faisal elaborate on that one?

English, because of the quality of commentary.
Khodabox, Chow. Sharafat and their fellow BD commentators are horrendous even when they are doing their best.

I can explain that one.
They were probably using BTV as source of commentary. BTV uses ESPN-Star commentary, but since last couple of series, when a special thing happens in the match (like falling wicket), they mute the original commentary and let loose Khodabox & Co. to torture us.

There is a sample bias in our group. This is a different mix of people than the one thats going to listen to the game.
People who come here probably are more English savvy and more cricket savvy and care about how Irfan Pathan is tricking Nafis Iqbal.

I think I'd prefer english. I like understanding what they're talking about. What really pissed me off is when I listened to the final wicket, turned the volume right up to listen to the crowd and someone says "BANGLADESH ZINDABAD" Got a bit of talking to about the speakers after that. One thing about ESPN though is that Athar Ali is one of the worst commentators I've ever heard

I like the idea of one chat room for each language - makes a lot of sense. The bangla commentary is "color commentary" rather than ball-by-ball so aside from your preference of language, it also matters what you are looking for.
And James, Atahar Ali is just fine. Leave him alone please!

What was the name of the Bangladeshi guy who commentated at the 2003 WC for BD games? Something Chowdhury? He was pretty good.

I think 1 room for each language is the best idea.
Faisal nothing beats that. Everyone can choose.
Well done.

He says so many stupid things, I don't know how he ever played for Bangladesh. He says things like "If you're not going to hit the ball for four then you shouldn't hit it at all". Unless I'm mistaking him for someone else, they all sound the same

English.
When I can watch the match, I don't care much about the commentary. For those who watched the BD-IND series, I am refering to "Dream Job" interviews, voting for "the one" who wins the seat between "Shaj and Waj", etc. However, when it's only audio, it better be a description of the match, not someone's own feelings. There is nothing wrong being a little emotional with commentary (sometime that's a good thing), but you can not leave out "cricket".

yeah, Shamim Ashraf Chowdhury.
His voice is better than Atahar's, but I didn't found his commentary much better than Atahar's.
Let's pray that Bulbul become our Ravi Shastri if the rumors about his being commentator are true
