Since News paper is our only option, we need to come up with something effective and attractive. Can someone, like Magic-Boy, Zeeshan, Dilscoop, Babubangla and others that I forgot to mention, come up with layout for our ad? The statment I think we should go with is, "We still BELIEVE - Banglacricket.com".

The specs should be no more than 3 inch in length by 2 columns wide which will cost about Tk. 50-60 thousand in PA. So let's get creative guys...

I'll contribute. Please post the procedure once the details are worked out. PayPal might be an easy way for people to donate from overseas. (One caution, please don't use credit card. Then PP will take their cut and the money that will reach BC will be much reduced. Use your checking/saving account and do a money transfer.) Many people have access to free or cheap wire transfers. So, wire transfer also is an idea.

How about registering BC as a non-profit organization in BC (NGO?) opening a BC bank account? There probably is not enough time for this initiative, but will be handy for any future endeavors. Members in BD will need to volunteer for this role. (At least 3-5 needed for check and balance and avoiding improper use.)

I think BC is already listed as a non-profit. According to Z bhai they did arrange some charity program where they collected donations of some sort, So BC must have some bank account somewhere whether it's paypal or online banking I am not sure. Can a BC admin please stand up.

Acutually if we end up using paypal, it should be one of the BC admin living in US. So even if someone uses credit card through paypal they will just have to use the personal option and there will be no charge for either party. Once we gather all the donations together then it will have to either wired or sent through Moneygram or Western Union. And who knows, PA or DS could even have an optin to pay them using paypal or credit card from abroad. I will find out when I call them tonight.

The 170K is for a full page ad? Geez! If sports page is 60K, that's less than $1000. Doable, given that some folks already made open commitements.

It would be good to find out a comparison of fees for Paypal (credit card), Paypal (account transfer), etc. However, if I can send the money in the US, I'll probably send a check. Zero expenses. The entire money will be useful for the cause.

The other thing is, given the game is on Friday... chances are the Sports page ad slots (and the main ones in other pages) are already taken on a popular daily like Prothom-Alo.

No, the tk170k is for 2 ads in DS and PA and they are for much less space then a full page. They don't publish full page ads.
Regarding paypal: I've sent money through Paypal within US upto $3000 using credit card and there was no charge since we are not making any purchase while making a donation. When making the donation, make sure to select the personal tab and select any of the 5 options there and there will be no charge for any party. I am not sure if it depends on the type of the account one has but I thought it's available to everyone and not sure if it's only within US.

Well, we would like to get started at least on the donation collections side. I have called DS and PA and not getting through to anyone. DS's first phone # is just busy and the other 2 keeps ringing and no answer. It's 11 am Dhaka time, I am not sure why no body is answering. Same with PA but I will keep trying.

Just got done talking to PA. Spoke to a guy name Momitur Rahman in the advertising department. He said PA has a 4 page WC edition called "Bishshocuper Angina" where he can publish for this Friday. There are 2 sizes we can pick, 3"x4.5" cost tk 36,000 normally, but on this WC addition he can give us 20% discount which means we will have to pay tk 28,800 or we can go for 6"x4.5" for tk57,600. But we need to clear the payment 2 days prior which means by Tuesday mid-night US time. And they prefer it's a cash payment made by someone in Dhaka; otherwise, clearing payment could take longer from US ending up missing the deadline. Upon my request, he's checking with his boss whether we can pay them half now and half a day before. I will call him in an hour and find out.
So now all we need to do is come up with at least $400 to have one add in PA and let our voice be heard. So what do you guys think?

So if we settle on this the outstanding tasks are:

1. Collecting money (We have to have a permanent BC donation collection email for paypal).
2. Coming up with the design for the ad.

we should put very simple (but powerful) words in the ads, making sure it stands out. Otherwise in the middle of all the colours and other ads in a WC special page it'll get overlooked very easily.

I liked the "We Still Believe" banner, and we can use that same concept here. Team huddle in the blurred background, with large highlighted text "We Still Believe", and at the bottom "BanglaCricket.com"

We don't seem to have a good team huddle picture of this squad, yet. Previous squads do, but we wouldn't want their picture to be here... the one that i used here has the players in a hug, which would symbolize unity - something we badly need right now

Here's the 2nd version without the green band and a larger BanglaCricket.com (I was originally thinking of bringing in the entire thing, with the red ball, and just add ".com" beside).

Great job Z bhai and Mahir. But don't you think the message should be on top, may be in RED and Banglacricket.com (in a smaller font than the message) at the bottom? We should make it appear like we are not here to promote Banglacricket.com rather, just here to motivate the tigers.
