He loves video analysis and sussing out the details. Hopefully this will prove crucial in helping our youngsters as they enter the crucial development stage of their cricketing careers at the NCA.

For the sissies who think they've seen it all (Shamsur, Aftab, the old Nazimuddin, et al):

BCB are only using all these news to hide important things like the non-payment issue of the players

I wasn't with BC back when McInnes was in. I don't doubt he'll be great for out future but what did he do while he was here? I just really haven't a clue.

Its great news from all ends.
1. Coach has a great track record in Bangladesh. This time, that will give the coach a flying start with his high demand program without resistance from players, media, fans or BCB.
2. Regardless how much BCB is criticized over time ( mostly valid, some may not be valid), this time a successful coach is coming back again in similar role. That itself should bring some credibility to BCB and Bangladesh Cricket. After all this may not be a bad place to work as successful coaches are coming back.
3. Young players will ask less question and will be more motivated as they have seen the end result of his successful tenure last time. And the end result is, if you work hard, and you have talent you will be better prepared when you are called for the national team.
4. Regardless of his disappointment (if any) he had with BCB last time, this time he will have a realistic assessment of what he can expect from BCB and how to handle them. So I expect better relationship this time.
5. From Fan's point of view, we have seen his result, we believe in his program. So There should not any poll" when to fire him" any time soon.
6. Finally We will have an alternate solution for our national coach for future if current arrangement doesn't work out in near future (due to bad health, missing family, need more salary, MIA, better opportunity, no improvement, etc).

I hope he will start appearing in BC again. Would love to hear his input after he spends time with the academy boys.

To summarize, he was a real taskmaster. Back in the days, we had a very, very good U-19 team - second probably only to India. The Mushfiq, Shakib and Tamim that you see today were all graduates of that team and products of Richard's no-nonsense coaching style. Even guys who are in and out of the team or always knocking on the door (Nafees, Enamul) were coached and shaped by him. Nazimuddin was a whiner and didn't like his ice baths in what one would consider no less than fall weather here in the north, but he was lucky he was born to a mother who was the opposite of a sissy, telling her son to quit being a pink unicorn with wavy eyelashes and that she would prefer a cricketer over a son any day.
Not to get ahead of myself, but I hope Richie Mac will stay around to coach the national team once Pybus' tenure is over (which it will some day, the later the better of course).

I hope this time it works out even better. Yes, we are going all gaga over his appointment and we have all the rights to be so due to his previous successes. However, since none mentioned this, the challenge for him this time would be very different as it spans beyond just an age group team.
Last time it was U19 team only and this time its an academy which is very very different than an age based team. For Academy, you are acting as a planner, executor, financier, administrator-- all. And that's where I personally was excited when Ross Turner was head of Academy because he was a very qualified Administrator. He used his connections and brought in other coaches for the academy. Richard is a very qualified coach and I am confident that he will do his wonders again but his tenure this time will play a crucial role and I hope that he influences BCB to hire good U19 coach as well!!

Sounds like the kind of no BS coach we need.

McInnes is the first National/U19 coach to post in BC, that's the reason he's so popular here. As a coach, he had moderate success with the U19 team. We failed to qualify for 2nd round in the U-19 world cup in our home ground under his coaching, which was the main target. We won the plate cup, but that wasn't something we didn't do before.

The players he nurtured through the HP Unit were the bedrock of our most successful U19 team and he shaped the best players of our current National squad:
Speaking of Shakib, Musfiq and Tamim being discovered from the U-19 team...
Here are the scorecards from Bangladesh's matches in the 2005/2006 World Cup:
(Group A Qualifier) Bangladesh vs. New Zealand, 5 February 2006, Scorecard
(Group A Qualifier) Bangladesh vs. Pakistan, 8 February 2006, Scorecard
(Group A Qualifier) Bangladesh vs. Uganda, 9 February 2006, Scorecard
(Quarter Final) Bangladesh vs. England, 11 February 2006, Scorecard
(Fifth place semi-final) Bangladesh vs. West Indies, 15 February 2006, Scorecard
(Fifth place play-off Final) Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka, 18 February 2006, Scorecard
We only lost 1 game out of 6 in those two weeks, against England and we beat New Zealand, Pakistan, Uganda, West Indies and Sri Lanka!
I would say that is more than just moderate success.

Prior to losing to England in the Quarter Finals, we had beaten them around 10 times in a row, 5 I think at home and 5 away. It was really a one off failure and unfortunately had to happen in the knockout stages of a WC competition.

^Wish England was beaten on that day. I bet we could have won the u19 WC. The whole scenario would have been different and imagine what a platform Shakib, Tamim and Mushy could have got in the national squad...ahh!!

I will echo what Spitty has said and point out Richard's record in the Aussie set up. It's good but nothing earth-shattering. Let's temper our expectations.
