What a win. 16 years it took them to beat New Zealand again. I would love to see Jerome Taylor opening the bowling for the Windies

roach is quite good these days, an opening pair of kemar roach and jerome taylor could be quite a good attack.

I'm really happy for the Windies. They looked good this match. Sammy has stated that the WI are aiming to be in the top 5 by 2015. I see them definitely being on the right track. I think that Ramdin should be replaced by Thomas and then they would be a better squad.

Happy for West Indies... I think Taylor, Roach, Narine and Bishoo along with the all rounders Bravo, Pollard would make a decent side in any format. I remember how lackluster Sri Lanka were under Dilshan... I wonder if NZ is also missing an inspirational leader right now

After a long time, I feel West Windies have a good team in their hands. They have multiple quality players in all postions, along with a superstar in Gayle, and another one in the making in Narine. Guys like Sammy, Bravo, Pollard are GREAT secondary options. If their youngsters can continue to develop, I see them climbing to a top 5 team in the world, in the shorter formats, with a couple upset championhips.
I think they are a dark horse for the T20 champhionship coming up this year. Won't be suprised to see them come out on top.

Looks like the talent was always there, they lost to us at home just because they were under prepared. We're not toppling them any time soon. Heck, we'll be lucky if we can edge out Turkmenistan in the rankings.

Wonder how we'd fare against NZ in a test match, at home obviously, they were clueless against spin.

expected more from NZ on the final day after they were 200-3! but roach bowled a fiery spell to get rid of taylor and williamson within a couple of overs Not too dissapointed, WI - Gayle and Narie = only getting 50% of the wickets and only 60% of the runs. would have loved to see gayle and narine together against australia and england. With Darren Bravo-Dwayne Bravo, Jerome Taylor and perhaps Ramnaresh Sarwan, this will be a formidable WI side! (also Bisoo the legspinner)
edit- this wraps it up quite nicely. from captain Ross Taylor: "They are a side that relies heavily on Narine and Gayle to do well for them. Gayle batted very well and gave us an opportunity but we didn't take it. Narine, if he is not taking wickets, doesn't go for lot of runs. I was pleased with the team in the way we played him. There were a few soft dismissals in the fist innings against him but other than that we played him really well."

Well now that Rampaul got injured looks like Fidel Edward's coming in for him. I think these 2 will also be a good attack, but Fidel is injury prone. So not sure how he will do after coming back from an injury. He is really experienced already played 50+ test matches, so that should come in handy.

Vettori out of 2nd test due to injury. Expect Gayle, Samuels to smash Nethula, even though vettori hasnt been taking wickets recently hes been keeping it tight but now have to select Nethula who isnt bowling too well.

NZ are going to really suffer when players like Vettori retire...the 'next generation' isn't looking too great.
Suppose they have the All-Blacks and Netball to fall back on

Windies did well to restrict New Zealand under 300. Will there be another Gayle storm.

Gayle dropped on 39 in 1st test, and made 150, now dropped on 2 knowing him he will blast a triple century now

lol.. What a test match! We are most likely to see this match ending in 3 days! Both team in compitition to play worse batting here.
atm West Indies require another 72 runs with 6 wickets remaining
Scoreboard looks in favor of WI yet, still with considering 3 day long pathetic batting story cant bet for any team here. Either team winning here will be a remarkble test win.

West Indies have Deonarine and Sammy who are capable of scoring runs. Not sure about Ramdin. Windies didn't have a decent wicket keeper batsman since Ridley Jacobs.

Its time Devon Thomas comes in. Ramdin seems to be a big headed guy when he just flat out sucks.

good work from WI, NZ are hopeless atm though, they just rely to much on mccullum and taylor atm to score runs, williamson is a talent but hasn't got to that dependable stage as yet, guptil is ok but the rest aren't doing much. wagner has disappointed in his debut series and no vettori makes it tough for them. i'm sure both wagner and van wyk were expected to be dependable performers based on domestic records but they haven't been so far. flynn needs to be given sometime he's a solid player and will be one of the reliable ones if they give him the chance.
