THRILLED For Ash
Mushy's 200 is just superb and the overall innings by BD is Sri Lanka is a wonderful sign of what Bangladesh can do.
But a special shout out to Ash.
For all that has happened in his career and for all that has been said about him, Ash's innings is a sublime one that set the foundation for the massive total. And given the mindset of the man, this innings is a remarkable one.
Ash scored one of the best T20 100s I have ever seen in BPL2. He responds to good support and TLC.
I have said and always said, and will say again now, that Ash is the best batsman Bangladesh has produced. Understanding how to work with him and allow him to be great, is not always an easy thing.
let's all enjoy the afterglow of a great Ashraful knock. They are rarer than they should be but always entertaining in their skill levels.

I think Mushy's more talented than Ash personally - so flawless except that one flash outside off before his double ton. Ash is someone who'd flourish once he gets his eye in - but he hardly does that. Once he does, he puts immense pressure on the opposition.
Well played Ash, I really hope he stays consistent and prove us all wrong.

ASH against SL even if he is out of form can score a century with eye's closed.

No point comparing Mushy's talent to Ash's.
They are two different breeds, two different mind sets and two different styles. Mushy came into the team as a specialist keeper where Ash a specialist bats man.
Ash scored century when Mushy was not even in the picture.

^ Correction - Ash came into the team as a leg-spinning all rounder.

well the definition of "Best batsman" may differ from one person to another.
So according to me Ash is definitely not the best batsman BD produced.(talent wise most probably yes)
And I am not too thrilled knowing the opposition is Srilanka, But the fact that he scored a BPL 100, then a 100 in Wup & a big one in this Tests shows that he is finding some consistency.
I hope he keeps scoring against his favourite opposition which will help him to sort out his problem with inconsistency.

I am still afraid to put my hope on Ash again.
This whole innings sounds like a Daja-vu to me. He has done things like this before only to crash our hopes next. I hope him best of luck, and having him in form will be such a great asset for the team, I will wait and see if he really has changed.

Thanks Ian! You have done some magic on Ash.
Regarding best batsmen, I am not sure about. A complete batsmen needs to have proper skills, techniques, and temperament. Ash lacks that temperament. I would say Tamim and Mushy are more complete batsmen.

i'd still say shakib, mushy and tamim are the best. shakib for his consistency despite his technique, tamim for his consistency despite his temperament and mushy for his technique and temperament despite not quite being as consistent as the other 2. i think it was clear in this test match that mushy has the best technique of all the current BD batsmen, ash has pretty good technique (probably 2nd best in BD) but it breaks down at times, mushy's is solid always. mushy also has the ability to up the run rate to, just watch him in some of his better ODI innings and you'll see he has good technique and can score anywhere on the ground.
not taking anything away from ash, it was a magnificent innings, he played only a handful of poor shots throughout his whole innings, if he plays like that consistently then he will be scoring a lot more runs more often. as people have been saying he scored a ton in the BPL, got one in the warm-up match and now this huge one so it's great to see him scoring heavily consistently.

I think gowza has got it right here. I too would rate mushy's texhnique over ash. And his stroke play is almost equal as well. Ash still has that drive to dominate the attack altho this game he jt wore SL down like Kallis.

Thrilled for Ash and Mushy.
If Ash becomes consistent, that in itself will make the BD team a super power :P. That's how dangerous this man can be.... The sheer potential he carries with him.... The burden of his talent...
We have quite a few consistent players in the team now which is what makes this team quite strong. Players like Tamim, Sakib, Mushy, Mahmudullah, Nasir, Gazi, Mashrafi...
I hope that in the near future, I can add Ash to this list. That will be awesome!

coach and others, please don't be thrilled about Ash yet. Let him be consistent, then one day may be we will be thrilled for him. For now we need to pray for him.

scores in professional cricket this year in various formats:
133 (BCL)
103* (BPL)
102 (tour match)
190 (Test)
22* (Test)
I don't think we've seen him this focused for this long a time. The change has been that he has been more disciplined due to his prayers which coincide aproximately with the timing of this consistency.
He seems to excell against SL's bowling even if its strong (Murali, Vaas, Herath) and against India's bowling as well. If he is disciplined like he was in this SL test, I think he can be moderately successful againt other sides in other conditions.

That's really well summarized actually. I think raw talent wise, Ash is the most talented and then Tamim 2nd but I agree with everything else.

i agree, he's been more consistent than normal this year. as far as doing well against sL and india, well most matches in those countries are flat tracks and also neither of them have ever been particularly strong in the pace department. suggests ash is good on flat tracks against attacks with not so good pacers BUT he's good against spin in those conditions.
