^ yeah I have been there and been a victim of privacy being violated. Every small movement is scrutinized by these relatives and becomes a gossip topic.

Really irritating and annoying, when you find your name floating around (even across cities) with stupid rumors and stuff like that. But with time, I learned to ignore them and not give a damn. I try to associate less with such people, on some level. Not worth my time and attention.

I've had North End. Compares very favorably to your good chain coffees in the US like Pete's or 'Bucks. A tad bit over roasted like Starbucks but still good. I've seen that Gloria Jeans have opened a branch in Dhaka.

Have not tried the meat from the German butcher but next time I'm there in Dhaka I'll. There's a German butcher here called Huber's and their meats are pretty good - almost US quality (not top end US groceries like Wegman's) but prime like you'll get at a good Big Bix store like Costcos. But if you have spare change - you can get their restsurant quality cuts - like the Wagyu ribeye they sell for about $35. That's per 100 grams.

You are probably right. Demographically Sylhet will be more diverse than London in terms of Bangladeshi community.

Sylhetty in Sylhet are my kind of people. I always felt I am in different planet when I came to this country. Sylhetty who have lived here in UK are nice people but they have adapted their lifestyle for UK. So when another F.O.B like me comes from Sylhet to London he will have major culture shock.

London is also getting diverse in terms of Bangladeshi's from different part of Bangladesh but I am not sure about unity. Only common thing is we are all "মাছে ভাতে বাঙ্গালী ".

After all they are also English. TBH I feel sorry for all nothun projonmo Sylhetty in London. They are neither English nor a Bangladeshi. Stuck in between. And if they don't know about Bangladeshi way of life, please don't blame them. Lately they are becoming more distance than ever before.

The last sentences says everything. There are more kids now wont go to Bangladesh because of security issues. And if they dont go their kids will never go. But they will continue to eat fish and "shutki"

I think the thing I miss most is CHOICES or options. If I wanted to eat cereal for breakfast, I could choose from like dozens and dozens of options. Here, it's corn flakes or chocolate-flavored cereal. If I wanted eggs in a restaurant, I could have them made dozens of different ways. Here, it's "DIM POOCH", "DIM CHIDDO" or "MUMLET". If I wanted cheese, I could have a million different varieties of cheese. If I wanted to read books, I could buy a million different books from a thousand different genres. Here, it's hard to get books (or cheese) as it is; if you are thinking about options, FUGGEDABOUTIT! You want candy? Cadbury's it is. You want beer? Heineken/Tiger. You want whiskey? Passport and red label. Vodka'? How about Absolut and Smirnoff? Sports? Yeah, cricket and soccer. That's it. What about traveling? Cox's Bazaar, Sylhet and Bandarban. You want bread? White bread it is.

FML.
Hahahahaha good one bro.

Actually, in the last 7 months or so, I haven't really been bothered by mosquitoes much. In fact, even though I live in a neighborhood which has a notorious history of mosquito infestation, I don't sleep with a mosquito net at night.

Also how come At&t offers nothing more than 18MBP? That's pretty low.

Discusse! Please!

Back to the topic.

Taking techn stuff back home.

This is kind of a rough list.

1- Old laptop + a New one (may be)
2- iPhone + an Android based one for wife (actually for me)
3- iPad 3GS
4- Digital Camera's (not SLR as I am not in to photography that much)
5- Wifi router + few usb dongles (unless a good one can be purchased back home)

above is what I think is hard to find tech stuffs in Bangladesh.

For entertainment.

Good TV and DVD Players/recorders can be purchased from back home right? if not will get from here and get it shipped. There are so many cargo service has opened in UK you would not believe.

Mo Bhai,

You will be able to find items 1,4 and 5, at least in Dhaka quite easily. In fact Wifi routers and dongles have become quite cheap at IDB bhaban that it is actually a waste of money and space to carry that as luggage. You will get TP-Link USB dongles for Tk.900-1200 odd, routers for Tk.3500-5500. Digital cameras ~ just get a cheap one from the UK if you want, because in Bangladesh I feel that they are priced slightly higher.

As for Ipad 3GS, or any other high end tablet (including Nexus 7) ~ take from UK; you will find it in BD but not worth buying there. Android phones are plentiful in BD, but for iphones and high end smartphones I think getting the genuine thing from a retailer in UK is a better idea. Same thing for blu ray players, Media Players & Servers ~ buy them from UK as the Bangladeshi market is just introducing these things.

Also take a 3TB external hard drive.... these things are expensive in BD but very useful when you find yourself copying and sharing TBs of downloaded movies with friends, colleagues and cousins.
