Australia should make an SOS call to Simon Katich and Ricky Ponting. They are both in England playing county cricket so Australia would benefit from their services greatly...

Shob shesh. Seems like Australia don't want to fight for at least a draw. They are a very weak batting team. No temperament in the team.
At least Uzzie wants to stick around though.

Good fight from Khwaja and Clarke. Half centuries for both. 450 runs to go though

England has produced an excellent "English" player in Joe Root, I think in future we will also see someone called James Taylor.

A meek surrender by Australia. This is so one sided that it's not even worth watching. Guess I'll have to wait for the start of Ind v Zim series, chances are that it'll more competitive than this.

Good for England. Clinically finishing off Australia. It's about time. The fact is that, Australia is still a good team. England are just wayyy better right now. I hope England wins this series 5-0. And then comes to Aus and then win that series too! Australians need to get it drilled into their heads that the world doesnt revolve around themselves.

No problems with the Aussie bowlers. But their is no one their batting lineup who is willing to hang in there and make a big score.
Call in Katich and Ponting.

pattinson out of the series now. hopefully jackson bird gets his shot now. rogers has been disappointing but i hope they stick with him for the rest of the series. i say just drop watson, unless he bats #7 and bowls more playing more as a bowling all rounder (but then may as well pick the likes of faulkner, henriques, maxwell, mitch marsh etc.
reckon they should be giving guys like cosgrove, rohrer, dave hussey, shaun marsh, ferguson etc a chance. otherwise if they are going for youth, pick the best ones which would be guys like joe burns etc.
have to say i like smith, chips in with ball, bat and fielding, has good talent in all 3 facets, has a good cricketing brain (potential future captain) and he seems to want it more than most.
also someone saying clarke might retire within 12 months, he made it known he didn't want to play into his late 30s, but also said he had a lot of goals to achieve. he has back injuries as well which could push him to early retirement.

I have no doubt Jackson Bird will perform. Watson needs to be dropped or pushed down to #7.

yeah i've no doubt bird will perform either. agree about watson, i say get him out, we've got enough openers to cover that position and haddin is fine at #7.

Katich must be really enjoying this current problems the Australian setup is facing. They discarded a player of his caliber as if it was nothing. Chris Rogers looks clueless against spin.
I wouldn't drop Watson because we all know he has the talent to score test centuries. I just think the opening bowlers figured him out a little bit and he just needs to bat lower down the order when the ball is not swinging as much. I think Watson at 4 and Clarke at 5 could build a good partnership together.

Actually Watson is a Tamim in the fact that he is a Mr 50. He has no ability to score centuries. Watson has only two centuries to his name after 79 innings, but he has scored 19 fifties.
Tamimesque.

yeah, i mean how long do we have to give the guy? he's played 43 test matches, batted in 79 innings, he's 32 years old and his first test match was in 2005, that's 8 years ago, in fact it's more like 8.5 years as his debut came in very early january of 2005.
you can only select on potential for so long.

That's what seperates Tamim from Watson - age. From Watson's experience he should have learned from his mistakes now. TIme and time again he just plants his foot out and continually get dismissed LBW. He should be a matured cricketer by now and learn what to do. But it seems like he is not willing to learn. Allan Border was hammering Watson for this quite recently. Watto will be one of the most wasted talents in World Cricket if he doesn't up his game now. Has all the potential in the world to be as good as Amla, De Villiers, Sachin, Ponting etc. His biggest crime is not fulfilling his potential.

actually what separates shane watson and tamim iqbal is that tamim has 4 test tons and watson has 2 yet watson has played many more innings.
yeah watson has been a big waste of talent.
