In the ICC's infinite wisdom they decided of the 4 evenly matched teams per group only one can qualify.

Hmm Holland,Bangladesh and ireland,a bit unfair,even Oman's a chance.

^^ See no chance of Zimbabwe, Afghans are most likely to qualify from the other group.

Who decided this group?? Zimbabwe have it served on a platter.
We suck at T20s. I think we are third favourite in this group behind The Dutch and Ireland.
I think The Dutch will go through as they have batters who can take it away from you. I hope I'm wrong and make it through but its highly unlikely.

Grouping was done by ranking - 1,4,5 of qualifier went to weaker Zimbabwe and 2,3,6 went to stronger Bangladesh. This is how it was done last time too.
Matches will be played in Dharmasala and it's in high altitude. Dew will be a factor in evening matches as it always is in that venue. Bangladesh plays Ireland and Oman in D/N match but their opponent Netherlands will be up in a Day match. The ground is small and 200+ scores are sometimes not defendable (as seen in latest SA series). The pitch is a dream of batsman kind.
In Nagpur, it's more of a subcontinent version (as seen in SA Test series). So, Afghans should prevail barring some upsets. Given that Afghans got a home venue in Delhi and will get an opportunity to play Indian state teams upfront, they should be in a good place to compete.

Netherlands have an outside chance to upset us. Other teams are there just to make up numbers.

T20 anyone has a chance. We still suck at the format although with Mustafiz it will be tough for any Associate to topple us. Still, I wouldnt bet the house on BD walking through to the main stage.
1 associate is almost guaranteed to go through (Afghanistan most likely, but Scotland has a shot too). Question is will it be 2?
Irish must be pissed they weren't drawn with their Zimbunnies this time!

I think two teams will qualify from each group. One team does not make any sense. If one team qualifies then how was this format approved in the first place? It will be farcical if we don't get to play any of the top teams. BCB has failed miserably.

Given that its wickets in India Bangladesh have a definite advantage. Don't get me wrong, we struggled our way into the WT20 Main round last time, but a bulk of difference between 2014 and 2016.
Last time we had Farhad Reza, Shamsur, Razzak mediocre pace bowling unit with a substandard captain. Now we have Soumya, Mustafiz, a top captain, Taijul/Arafat.

^^ Soumya is a T20 flop. Taijul is c grade T20 bowler.
But you are right, having Mash as a captain increases our odds by 50%.

Dharmsala's pitch will suit Ireland more than us. I think we are in massive danger. We could roll Ireland in Nagpur. BCCI very cleverly made the schedule to keep us out.

TBH soumya is just going through a poor run of form.
If he can regain his form, we will have superb opening pair of Tamim-Soumya.

Soumya is the type of player that fires during the games that matter such as international matches. Hopefully that's the case this time as well because we need his heroics in the WC.

I a not sure of that. I have observed that Bangladesh pitches are typically slower than Indian ones. Moreover, Dharmasala has smaller ground than most of Bangladesh stadiums.
I am not sure why Bangladesh supporters are worried. I would have been worried if it was played on a bowler friendly pitch. Dharmasala being a batsman friendly pitch, should help batsman to pile up runs while bowlers should still doing good and disciplined. The Associate world doesn't have bowlers such as Taskin and Mustafiz. Things that could upset the team are - 1) Pressure and 2) Dew. But away from home, there will always be some challenge, you can't ignore it.

Small grounds are actually advantageous to our batsman though not the same for the spinners

Based on current form, Abu Haider and Al Amin should get preference over Rubel and Taskin. Atleast in T20's. In batting, surprisingly, Imrul showed good promise in this format lately. And has to be considered for the final squad.

No point picking Taskin for this **** format. Rest him for the Zim tests next month.
