Nafees and who....?
From today I think Bangladesh (coach / selectors) will always look for another opener, who can give an impressive start for Bangladesh.
Nafees (Abir) is in one hand who is other...?
Javed..! nope...He is certainly not an One day Player. :
Rajin could be one of them...when he is in form. If not, They should find an opener who can support Nafees (Abir).
Thats all we need for our team..! If the openers can give us 40 to 50 runs in first 8 to 9/10 overs, Our team will be always competative with any opposition.
Trust me !

too early to say abir is a good prospect and way to early to throw away iqbal. JO is a temporary solution because he is not getting any younger. but as long as he keeps the form he should be there. mean while these two nafis need to be groomed more and play the one who is doing better.
tushar always triggering the collaspe, today ashraful stopped it but was not there to stop the 2nd one. we need a solid number three. rajin should be back. the rest of the team is ok.

Tushar hasn't been getting runs and you can call for his dumping from the team, but lets not blame him for something that hasn't happened. He hasn't triggered any collapse, let alone always! A collaps means once you fall, 2 or 3 wickets fall right after you. In the three innings that he batted at number 3, his wicket was followed by partnerships of 130, 125 and 90!! So no, he doesn't
"always" trigger the collapse!
As for Abir, he looks good off his feet and he looks good cutting at balls angling away from him, like all left handers. He also played one or two nice drives straight down the ground for a single or two. But, he still needs to tighten up his technique outside the off-stump. He has this really lame drive through extra-cover at balls pitching on his off-stump and angling away from him, that he played quite a few times against England and quite a few times today as well. You feel that the best that will happen if he makes contact with those balls is a catch to the slips. If you are going to drive, get your foot to the pitch of the ball and drive firmly, don't play these half-hearted drives like a tail-ender might!

I dont see any problem of Javed being our opener. We are watching too much of Tendulkar and Sehwag and forgetting the basics of the game. Javed can play one day games and there is no problem at all with the style of his batting in one days......... And since Abir has played just one match well he has become our all dependable opener??? Where do we live? In fool's paradise?? Thoghts like these have screwed up our team in the past. and will do in future.............

esteban_loaiza, agreed. we need an attacking opener on one side and a defensive/not-as-attacking (or one that can hold on to his wicket) one on the other end...

Yes, he is triggering the collaspe. JO and abir been shakey today but they did serveve the overs. its number 3 who is supposed to be the one who should take care of things in case a opener goes out quick, not the other way around. with tushar at number 3, one wicket down autometically means 2 wickets down, whoever comes afterward has to play safe then. going back all 4 matches, thats what tushar have been doing. i'd rather have off form rajin instead. the 2nd collaspe was triggered by bashar today.

But JO is too defensive..and when we need him he is flopped..!
Look at today's mach...Everyone knows he is experiensed...But what he did today...!
Looked like a Debutant (Kid) can play that shot batter .
JO needs to learn how to block the middle stump ball. pitching on the line..!

Abir should be there always as we need a lefty opener for the fact that if we have a left & right in the opening and if they click well its gonna be problem for fielding team in setting up their fielding....

Once again, drop Tushar if you want, but figure out what trigger means before you do that. The first collapse, if there was one, was triggered by Golla, and the second was triggered by Abir. The first person to fall "triggers" a collapse, not the second!

For Bangladesh it is not about left or right or tall or short or black and white..... We need to pick 11 players who are the best in Bangladesh in their positions.... We dont have the luxury of picking right/left/straight or whatever......

Javed's boundary hitting rate is fine, but the main problem with hims is his inability to take singles, rotating strike and keep scoreboard moving.

This is what I mean by knee-jerk! After every match on this tour, your team has changed! How can our best XI change after every game? Before this one, you wanted Rana at 3. Now you want Rajin at 3. Next match, God knows who you will want at 3!
Again, I am not writing this in support of Tushar. He can go as far as I am concerned, but how do you expect to have credibility as BanglaCricket's resident chief selector if your team changes after every game?

Jo is not defensive enough for ODI...He has performed better than any batsman in Bangladesh team let alone openers in both forms of the game (second to Bashar in test). He has the skill to play ODIs and I really dont see any problem playing him. Stop watching too much criket specially Tendulkar or Sehwag or Afridi.....

What about replacing Tushar with Iqbal? I just don't have any confidence in Rajin for this tour.

I was thinking along the same lines actually!
But the thing is, they have both been getting out in the exact same way. Nafees' problem this whole tour has been playing that angled bat shot outside off-stump and edging to the keeper and slips. Thats exactly how Tushar got out in the last couple of games as well!

After the University match you said something about slight open stance of our batsmen. Do you think Iqbal and Tushar are having hard time adapting to it?

Ya Iqbal is the best choice if we have to drop Tusher. I nevel liked Tusher at 3. He would perform better in late middle order.

Thats right..! He couldn't perform at no.3 ..
At least they can try and see how he performs at Aftabs place and how Aftab performs in Tushar's place.
We can see Ashraful performing good at no:5 than no:3 or at no: 4..
There is no probs if we try at least

47 in one match wont make him regular in the team. he does look like a good prospect though. left handed opening batsman is good. but he has to compete with nafees and javed. javed and nafees is better for test match i believe and nafees and abir can open in odi. but it all depends on his form.

Might be a problem for Nafees who is slightly open, but I haven't really noticed an open stance for Tushar. Haven't really been paying much attention to technique in the ODI series but you may well be right.
I think its mainly a question of shot selection. Nafees plays the ball down to third man well, but he has to realize that he shouldnt do it to balls so close to the body and especially not early on when the ball is swinging. Same with Tushar. Lee is too quick to try to play the Mark Waugh type of wristy back-foot drive to third man!
