Proposal: BD-WI-ZIM Tri-nations Series
I know many of you are thinking of it and coming December-January may be the perfect time to arrange it.
Mahbub Anam already said BCB is thinking to organize a Tri-nations involving Zim and India in next January. Zim's tour of NZ in December is pretty much got cancelled for political reasons. They will be dying for some ODIs this winter. So, it won't be hard to convince them to come here again.
But, even though India still owe us a tour, they may not be interested to squeeze in another ODI series in their busy winter. On the otherhand, WI has no series after their tour of Australia in November, until next April.
So, I think, coming winter is the perfect time to fight out who is the best of the worsts in oneday cricket. Also, this will be a good preparation for Asia cup and home serieses against SL and Aus.
On a side note, we also need to make deals for our A-team. African countris like ZIM, Namibia, Uganda and Kenya should be perfect places for visiting this winter. Also need to keep looking for entries in domestic leagues like Busta Cup (WI), Duleep Trophy (IND), and Patrons Trophy (Pak). This way we can make sure we have all bright prospects like Golam Rahman, Farhad Reza, Shahadat, Shamsu, as well as struggling talents like Rajin, Kapali, Talha- all competing for a place in the national side during home serieses against SL and Aus.

Tri-series would be excellent. West Indies without Lara is still powerful but we are improving.

I would suggest that Bangladesh play tri series with Zim & kenya coz we have high chance of winning that and get enough points to overcome Kenya in ranking atleast in not Zim, as we need to win more matches to over come them in ranking....
India inclusiion would mean givign them bonus point and making them move ahead in ranking and guys it wont be easy at all to defeat India as after we defeated them...they wont gonna rest ny more good players against us...
My best suggestion would be that of four nation trophy which would include....Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Kenya & West Indies....
We shld beat Zim & Kenya and give a good fight against WI and if luck favour us we can win over them & who knowes we might win the trophy too...
I would suggest this bcoz if we defeat WI to achieve that tropy we get solid points in ranking but if we defeat Kenya a non test playin nation we dont get much
So, let it be WI too...and a four nation trophy....

BD-WI-ZIM Tri-nations Series is a very good idea ahead of Asia cup and Australia's tour of Bangladesh. But I was just wondering where they will play the tourney? In Mirpur Cricket Stadium? Ideally I would like BD players to play few matches there before they encounter any foreign team on that pitch to take full advantage of home condition.
After Bangladesh A tour of England BCB should arrange another foreign tour for them before NCL kicks off in the winter. But I categorically detest the idea of arranging A-team tour against associate nation teams. It would serve no purpose at all in terms of quality of cricket they'll get to play and professional approach towards various aspects of match situation.
Another A team tour in West Indies in near future or sending a BCB XI in their regional Busta Cup tounament before WC 2007 would do world of good for our players.

In all essence we should target two lowest teams in the ranking and keep playing matches.
But beyond that, I think we should arrange to play Pakistan more often as I believe this is one side that is the most unpredictable. They have good batting side, a fair enough fast bowling and very unpredictable. We can learn a lot and also turn some close games into wins.

Playing against pakistan or West Indies more often is good idea. No point playing with Zimbabwe or Kenya. Send our A team or development squad to these countries.

Any time is a good time for an overseas tour, but I personally would prefer if our A-teams toured these countries in our Summer (off season). All the players (national & 2nd string) should be available for the national league and domestic competetions.
On a more relevant note, such tri-series involving Zim and WI would be awesome. We should send an e-mail to BCB suggesting this.

Lance_Kluesener's idea of playing Kenya and Zimbabwe to boost Bangladesh's ranking is completely the wrong way around.
Bangladesh need to play strong teams. They got more out of playing India and Australia than a mere two wins. They got respect.
Right now, Bangladesh have the reputation of a young, talented, inconsistent side that can knock you over if you arent careful.
Tour everywhere. Tour until the money runs out, then write "ICC" on the bill. If a county wants a Bangladesh player, let them have them. If a club wants a Bangladesh player, send them. Heck, I'd be seeing if any school wants a 16 year old wicket keeper who's played at Lords.
But keep playing strong teams, and keep blooding young players.
Send Shahadat to the West Indies. Send Enamul Haque Jr to Australia. Send Aftab anywhere.
But send people to where they can play on different conditions, against different opponents.
And keep touring.

ICC changes will boost non-Test countries
A new era for the second tier
Martin Williamson
June 29, 2005
The announcement that, from now on, the top six associate countries will be able to play full one-day internationals against each other, or any of the Full Members, is a massive and timely boost to world cricket's second-tier nations.
Until now, the gulf between the Full Members - the Test-playing countries - and the rest has been wide and seemingly unbridgeable. In the one-day game, the only real chance for the minnows to shine has come in the four-yearly World Cup.
But the ICC's announcement that one-day member status - the sole preserve of Kenya - was being scrapped has been accompanied by something much more significant and far-reaching. Not only will the six leading associates be granted ODI status, they will also benefit from considerable additional grants of US$500,000 over four years, which should enable them to build a sound cricketing infrastructure to underpin their national sides. That will help to ensure that any future aspirants to Test status have built their success on a solid foundation.
As a result, the ICC Trophy, which starts later this week in Ireland, takes on far more importance than ever before. Until now it has been a qualification tournament for the World Cup, with a one-off opportunity to appear alongside cricket's big boys. That aside, there has been little tangible reward.
Now the lure is the four-year investment from the ICC and one-day status, on top of the World Cup place. Five places are up for grabs in Ireland - the sixth slot is already guaranteed to Kenya as part of the sweetener for them losing their one-day membership - and those six will get all the benefits until the 2009 ICC Trophy when they will all have to qualify again.
What could be a fearsome struggle is likely to come down to five from Canada, Ireland, Namibia, Netherlands, Scotland, UAE and the USA, although outsiders such as Uganda have the potential to grab one of the places. The downside is that the price for failure is considerable.
And while a final decision has yet to be reached, it is likely that the one-day world rankings will be expanded to include the newcomers, meaning that matches at the bottom end take on much more significance. Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and even West Indies have had the safety net removed from under them, and might well find the likes of Scotland and Namibia snapping at their heels.
At last, global cricket is genuinely democratic. Any associate or affiliate is eligible to enter the qualifying stages of the ICC Trophy, and so in theory any one of them can land the jackpot. Rather than relying on politicking and schmoozing, finally the international stage is now a meritocracy.

Sweeeet, now whenever our team have a long break from international cricket, they can invite one of those six associate members for an ODI series and earn some bonus points. Even better for our U/19 and development XI's, they can now get some good practice matches against different opponents. Probably, at the end of the day, we can bill ICC for all the cost for development purpose, after all we will be helping those countries to grow.

Be little more corageous BCB, it is time to go after WI (given that they have taken care of their player disputes). Kenya needs more time to recoup from the political mess their cricket bodies made.

I still respect Kenya as a good team. But, the problem is Kenya, at this point, is a rank outsider (demoted to recently created second tier), beating them is not going to earn us a single point to climb up the ranking. We should play them only if we can't find any other full member to involve in this series.

Yes it will now from what a belive the top 6 teams from non test playing nations are granted the ablitity to play against test playing nations in ODI's so there should be a rating system.
