Koreans are the only asians who played in round of 8 or higher (so called Q/F and S/F; North in 1966 and South in 2002). Last time Japan was out in round of 16 (so called 2nd round). though this time I think Japan would go further than any other asian teams (if there strikers fire)though so many Iranis play in Bundesliga. As Aussie are in same group with Japan they have no chance. I think it would be an Head2Head between Croatia and Japan in the group of Australia where the other team is Brazil

Japan sent down scores of Journalists & Camera crews to cover Australia's progress in the leadup to the World Cup. They were in Melbourne today (out in the cold), to watch the players prepare for the Australia vs Greece match to be played here on Thursday night. Clearly Japan is not going to be taking the Australia game lightly. And neither is Croatia. Although Australia is largely an unknown quanitity on the International scene, I think they deserve far more credit than you are giving them. After all, they did defeat Uruguay just to reach the tournament. And it was only 2-3 years ago when they defeated a full strength England side 3-1 in England. If Kewell and Cahill can overcome injury, anything is possible.

Tiger please do some homework before opening any thread. Japan moved to second round in 2002 and Korea went to the semifinals as the first Asian country.

I'm pretty sure Mr Cricket knows where Australia is. I think he was talking in regards to the Australian Football team being part of the Asian Football Confederation. They joined on the 1st January 2006 having left Oceania Football Confederation.

I think South Korea will do the best. These guys have immense physical fitness and I know that this alone can't win you a World Cup but still, its a positive.
I just hope that Saudi Arabia can avoid embarassing defeats like the 8-0 drubbing they suffered at the hands of Germany.

japan and korea are the strongest asian teams and certainly have the potential to go into the deep end of the knockout stages, Iran has a chance of making the 2nd round but sorry to say saudi arabia wont do much but go home afther the 1st round as for me they are just there to make up the numbers, although i would like them to prove me wrong.

Korean team always shines in the WC. So, i think they will repeat their success in Germany. They are really a good team and their players are also playing in Europe. So they are used to handle the pressure.

Iran and Japan looks to be in bad touch.
I guess S.Korea is gonna get the furthest.
