Yes, this is the best place for SAF games.
Keep us updated on what dicipline we have a chance. NTV was showing a report that couple of SAF games back we had the 100 and 200 locked. Now getting a medal in athletics would be an achievment. Hoping for the best. Kabadi is our only hope for a team bronge. Football you never know with these under achievers. Can swimming get us something this time? I know shooting can't.

BD drew with Nepal 1-1.
According to Bangladesher khela, they conceded a penalty goal in the last few minutes of the match.
Faisal scored the only goal for Bangladesh.

Is field hockey a category? can we get a bronge in that event? Football sucks anyway. I want to Zidane all Bangladeshi football players.

Okay I am seriously confused by the football team thing. In SAF Cruciani's boy's are playing (well enough) against the South Asian Teams. They are awaiting to play Afghanistan now. But at the same time Arif Khan Joy is leading BD team vs Qatar tomorrow for AFC tourney in Ctg. Am I missing sth here? Is our national team split up right now? Isnt it very weak then?

The team in the South Asian Games is the Under 23 BD team. I think Nepal's team is their senior squad. And the team playing aqainst Qatar is Bangladesh's main squad. I got confused at first too.

Hokkey, can Bangladesh win a SAF medal this year 2006?
This reply is for Tigers_eye,
Yes, Hokkey is a category of this year's South Asian Games, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. About Bronze medal... well... according to my knowledge there are only four countries competing in this event. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri lanka. They are competing each other in Preliminary round, and then to final or third place.
Both maches are scheduled at Nandimithra Ekanayaka Hockey Grounds, Matale, Sri Lanka on 25th August 2006. I feel Bangladeshi team has a good chance to get a medal out from that event.

EDIT: Oops, wrong thread, got confused with South Asian Games and Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Thank you Kaawa.
Last time we beat SL in Hockey that was well .... SL'an team came by road on a 20+ hour journey and we played them the next day at Dhaka and beat them not that convincingly. This time it is in their back yard we will be the visitor. Hopefully the result will be in our favor on the 3rd-4th match.
Guys, did you see Kabbadi team? I mean the women BD Kabbadi team. hahaha!! I'd like to see some pictures. Here also if we can get a medal that would icing on the cake (woman's). I expect BD getting a medal on the men's. May be a silver?

According to all the newspaper reports, our prospect in this year's SAF games seems to be even more gloomy.
too bad to see all the other sports in the country is declining at a frightening rate.

Kabaddi Women: BD beat Nepal. Woohoo!!!
Kabaddi Men: BD was suppose to play Pakistan. I am not sure what the result was.
Medal table Bd is leading Afganistan, Bhutan and Maldives.

well by the end of it, i think we will probably only lead afghanistan and bhutan (maybe not). we're pretty pathetic when it comes to any sport other than chess and cricket. we should really cut down all funds for other sports - it's useless if we can't even dominate in the world's weakest competition. after all gorib desh: taka to r beshi hoy nai.

Updates are not coming regularly for sure.
We played Pakistan on the 20th (kabaddi-men) still no score. But we Beat SL 47-14 on 22nd that has been updated. So we have to be patient for the final update.

thanks. looks like they still haven't updated two bangladesh games.
anyways, i guess the gold will go to india no matter what, so we'll probably have to settle with a silver(or maybe even a bronze)
