1. Technically you can't be 'wasting' your time if your doing something you enjoy.
e.g. Would watching a movie or listening to music then also consitute 'wasting' your time?
Don't mean to be rude, but the idea here would be to brainstorm your contention both as a team and as an individual.
Stop asking others to help with your homework!

Mr cricket's reponse is a good one.
There are also some scientific papers regarding positives of video games such as certain games increase your response time, awareness and you can count more at a time than average people... (as in you can easily spot 15 objects without counting whereas normal is like 6 or something...)..
Search for those articles...

In social gathering among bengali families (5 to 10 families) over the weekend, if you have a playstation step up in your guest room or game room, then you will have less chilla-chilli, duora-douri from the kids. A peaceful gathering, adda, backbiting!!

I wonder what would happen to game lovers when we would run out of resources to generate electricity ...

yeah, typical bangali gathering: the aunties gossipping about which bhai bought his "bhabi" a set of jewellery and commenting on how biryanite lobon kom hoise, the uncles discussing bangladeshi politics, and the kids gathered around a playstation, decapitating hostile soldiers.

Ooh we got an Xbox fanboy here... right Bancan, I guess that's why Playstation and Playstation 2 both sold over 100 million units each.
PS3 will rule the earth.
I agree with Mr-Cricket's answer, you can't be "wasting" your time if you enjoy doing something. What should have been the question is whether Playstaion (or any games console) is a "constructive" use of time, which is a debatable topic. Yet I see not much harm being done.

So you dislike PS2 because you hated buying memory cards for it then I don't blame you for not wanting to buy the PS3. Then again, IMO PS3 is a good long-term investment for at least 5-6 years.. If you're a gamer/consumer with discretionary income then it's the perfect console+home entertainment for you, otherwise good luck with the gimicky Wii

PS2 is a great video game console. My unit is 4+ years old and my son grew up with it (he is 6). If you are selective with what games you play it can be benefecial for kids. My son plays lot of aerial combat games which require good hand-eye coordination and smart thinking. Last Spring we took a test flight in a F-15 eagle simulator at Warner Robins AFB and he shot down a bogey before I even realized where the bandit was. The guy managing the simulator literally came out to our cockpit and I told him i didnt do anything, it was this little brat sitting on my lap! Generally speaking, good video games are great learning tools for kids and Playstation platform has the most games. (although Xbox will probably catch up because its more flexible for game developers)

All game consoles are waste of time, because PC is the best
Keyboard + Mouse > any other controller

Well that's only because of the controller, but how do you distinguish better games? I only agree PC is good for FPSs, RTSs, MMORPGs, Simulations, etc - those are the games I use my PC for due to better control and hardware spex. Sadly the downside is PC games and genres don't have a lot of variety for most games that I enjoy.

Cmon man! You can't compare personal computer to game consoles! It's like comparing a tv set to a movie theater screen when you want to watch "The Gladiator" or "Saving Private Ryan". Check the facts. 90% of commercially developed games are for game consoles, not for PC. Pick up any decent game developer book that discusses the platforms and you will see why. Game consoles are meant primarily for gaming and all these DVD, home theater stuff packaged these days are after thoughts (I dont even use my DVD player anymore to watch movies). Whereas personal computers do a variety of things, gaming is just one of them. When I go to any Best Buy or other store and try out a "gaming computer", it is never a close match to my old PS2.
Sure there are many games well-suited for PC, just like we have "made-for-tv" movies ;-). But check any recent hot games that are released on various paltforms. PC equivalent of such games don't come close to the console versions in gaming experience or graphics. One example: play "secret Weapons Over Normandy" on a PS2 then try it's PC version (you better have a 2Gb memory and a decent processor first!). You can tell the difference yourself.

FPS and RTS are alone good enough to make PC a better choice for gaming. And the ability to play all kind of games is a bonus.
You can play GTA games on PC, but you can't play AoE II or Rise of Nations on PS2/Xbox.

I'm not gonna argue on this anymore, this is pointless. You've made up your mind so have it your way..
Just to let you know I'm anticipating an FPS called 'Crysis' on the PC, coz it's the only platform it'll be on and for good reasons.. but can I play amazing games like Metal Gear Solid on the PC? or Shadow of the Colossus? How about God of War? May be Final Fantasy XIII coming out next year, no?
No.
