There is no room for cry babies in any kind of sports when you play for the national team, specially if you are a captain. Its a postion of potential exteme power, fame, money and prestige. Dream will be build in top of each success, and dreams will be broken after each failure. "You live by the sord, you die by the sord".

I [edit] who show disrespect to Bashar, seriously even if Bashar is drpped who would take his place? Mushfiq...

Seriously if Bashar was dropped right now the team would collapse.

Does Utpal Shuvro know that Fletcher is going to lose his job after the World Cup or currently how popular Michael Vaughan is among English fans?

was just reading this..... its so hard to take side in this case (bashar or no bashar)... but honestly didnt think the whole captain issue will be so critical during the WC. Most likely Bashar is stepping down after the WC anyways, but the way the new captain issue is affecting us (where there is no immediate replacement) is really concerning....

We need to win against Ireland & WI (inshALLAH), we need to get our gameplans right, worry about the bouncy pitch etc etc than put Bashar into more pressure (performance wise) for the next games....

The selectors are not dropping Bashar for the next 2 matches, and unless he gets injured or sth he is playing those matches. We should be more supportive to him atleast for the next 2 games, maybe not for Hablu but for TEAM BANGLADESH.....

Why don't this Utpal Hablu Shuvro tell us why Bashar was not concentrating in the field at such a crucial game for Bangladesh? Where is the aggressive nature of him when batting or fielding, all he does is talk big, he should see how Javed and Rafique plays and compare himself to them. He is the slowest and laid back of them all.

I don't like this type of journalism. Performance should be the only criteria. Not that Bashar is doing excellent as captain. He is a pathetic captain. If performance is the reason for droping SN despite having a superb year, Bashar should drop himself a way ahead SN.

Nobody is going to drop Bashar, he is not going to quit (he still believes he has it in him to deliver) and we do not want to see Bashar out either. Actually all our players are decent players, they seriously have to work to fix their basic batting flaws.

You should say
long innings Bashar - for more runs.
long legs Bashar - to run between wickets faster.
long hands Bashar - to catch the ball in the air.

Regardless his Batting
He is the man for captaincy, without him we may not have done as well in this WC

Ditto.

But his time is getting narrower. We need to bring someone within a year to make a smooth transition. The vice captaincy pressure proved too much for SN. Tushar Imran might be a good choice. But the question is, whom he will replace in the middle order now.

I highly doubt that Bashar is the man behind all these success, he surely followed instruction from the coach and pre match discussion strategy that got us all these success. If he is given to do something spontaneously he would fail to do so, he did make so many mistakes you can keep counting from the commentary about his field setting and power play selection and all about game plan, to choking the opposition and so on, he is always late in reaction. chor gele buddhi bare type captain. Nothing special about his captaincy, but he is admired and respected by everyone that is what he has. He would hardly step up to the bowler and suggest a trick or to to get wickets when badly needed. He is not the one who will bring sudden changes to get results. He goes by his usual business and plan.

Bd has got those hard earned wins, not "because of" bashar but "inspite of" bashar and his worthless captaincy and harmful batting(he actually harms the team by eating up deliveries and not scoring any runs).

there is a theory, which I think is quite right, you first select your best 11 and then select the captain among that 11. ask yourself can bashar merit his place in the best Bd 11? No, so his captaincy is a non issue. That means we dont even have to waste our breath how pathetic his captaincy is. He doesnt even merit a place in the side, so really he should warm the bench and let rajin (or his friend JO) in the field.

Instead of getting emotional over what fans saying, Bashar needs to concentrate on his own batting. Our world cup campaign is not over yet, there are two more matches to go.

Ganguly went through this when he got stripped of his captaincy. After the India tour we can sit and discuss about the captaincy.

OK, if we want to see ourselves in the losing streak again, then drop Bashar.

May be you don't want like my extreme support for Bashar, but we will see the result if we drop him.

We are winning because we have better players now. Even under Pilot's captaincy we won 5 out of 8 games in Zimbabwe/Kenya tour (that could've been easily 6 or 7 games out of 8).

Spitfire,

Even you must acknowledge that the standard of cricket played by India and South Africa is a tiny bit higher than the challenge represented by Kenya and Zimbabwe.
