Arnab: Clerification required. I think many will confuse this with having ONLY bangla fonts in BC forum. They should know that there's a choice b/w Bangla and English.

Clarification: From a menu placed at the bottom of this forum, you can choose to display messages in the default English or the newly added Bangla. This poll is about that functionality.

Go to the bottom of the BC web page display and then select the language of your choice:

I didn't know about this feature before reading this thread.
I just tried--it is hard to read. The bangla fonts looks blurry...just as it looks when someone posts Bangla message in the forum without using the Bangla Tag.
But it is certainly a nice feature to have-- will make the forum more accessible .

I wouldnt know the meanings og those words if I did not have english version as a reference. Kar kaj eita ? Ei kothin kothin bangla word use kora?

Well, you seem to be fine with the kothin kothin English words used in the English version. Why not Bangla?

I like it. However looks like there is room for improvement like converting few more English word links into Bangla word links. For example:
Classified (could be "Lal Shuta" or "Mokkel Khojar Ghor")
Bangladesh Cricket (could be "Amader Khela Ghor")
International Cricket (could be "Anorjatik Khela Ghor")
Match Archive (could be "Shojotney Rahkiyo")
Other Sports (could be "Onno Khelar Ghor")
Forget Cricket (could be "Bhuliya Jan Cricket" or "Kaizza Ghor" or "Hashi Tamasha")
Support (could Shahajjo or "Buirar Lathi" or "Ondhor Lathi" or "Langrar Lathi")

Actually Bangla and English font sizes don't make the characters look the same. That's why Bangla fonts look a little small and blurry. A way to avoid it would be to change everything to Bangla, including the top menu. And then increase the size of Bangla text.

There are no kothin English words in the forum layout in the english version. For example "private messages" is described with a certain Bangla word that I did not know the meaning of. Moreover I am most comfortable speaking Bangla as it is my mother tongue but my bangla vocabulary is abysmal. Hence apnar kothin kothin bangla word er meaning kisui bujhtam nah without the English words as a reference. So I was wondering if that would be a hindrance to people who may want to use the bangla version or maybe I am judging everyone on my own scale when it comes to Bangla vocabulary.

I did not know that this option existed, so thanks Arnab for making some of us aware of this feature. Btw, the font size is a little too small. But I will be using the Bangla option from now on ... lots of fun.

I specially love the part where the "Go" button translates into " Cholo"
Thanks again for exposing me to this brave new world Arnab.

To each his own. Did you know the meaning of the word "apothito" . That is the word that replaces unread I think. I would have no clue about that without the english word as a reference.

Yes that is very simple. I am not asking for you guys to change it because it does not matter to me anyways as I wont use the Bangla version. I was just wondering that since i find it hard there might be others who may want to use it and find it hard to comprehend. BUt then again as I said before I might be wrong in judging other people's Bangla vocabulary since CD's post indicates that.

All of these are UI issues with the emphasis on the U. Terms and labels should be used that make sense to the user base and is simple to boot. There is a reason there is just a "Go" button and not a "Traverse" or "Proceed" or "Circumnavigate" or ...

There are plenty of kothin kothin english words in the english version. You just got accustomed to them.
If you don't get what is meant by the translation of the "private message", then I guess you are weak at Bangla. ব্যক্তিগত বার্তা is composed of two VERY familiar Bangla words. Every "primary-pash" Bangla medium student in Bangladesh will know the meaning of it.
I am ignoring the BBCD English medium kids of course.

Yep, that is the case. Remember, you probably took the SAT or some equivalent. Do you remember taking anything like that in Bangla?
