Reading Feluda in English just won't convey the essence of it. Most translations don't ...

It might sound stupid, but I was surprised by the fact that Satyajit Ray put allmost no female character in all those Feludas.

yea there was a talk show in kolkata long time back discussing this. they said presence of female character lightens the gravity of a detective plot. and how bangalis find love in the presence of a single female character in a novel, he decided to keep them off.........haha.....

Great theard bengalipri, thanks bro.
I was an avid Feluda fan after reading Shonar Kella around the age of 10. Gangtoke Gondogol made me almost mental, sorta Trekkie-like. Then I discovered Kuasha and graduated to Masud Rana soon after that. Now I'm a Jason Bourne man al the way, Shoumitro as Feluda just ruined it for me when the movie came out. Anwar as Kuasha and Sohel Rana as Masud Rana were the final nails of their respective coffins. Matt Damon as Jason Bourne is perfect.

There was one. Not a recurring character. But, a helper character ... possibly in the MaganLal stories.

... I saw this one coming.
Anyway, try the original Persian "Faludeh" if you haven't already. Any decent Persian or Turkish restaurant should have it.

Gangtoke Gondogol was/is my favorite. What a surprise!
I think the third Bourne movie is coming out soon. Second one was just amazing, specially the final act in Moscow...

I'm not at all surprised my long lost brother. The second Bourne was my favorite too. "I'll bring this fight to your doorstep faster than..." what a moment that was.

For some reason I enjoyed Joto Kando Kathmandute both the novel and the movie most - probably because of the natural description of Nepal.

Forget the essence... some of the English translations required a PLOT CHANGE to make them work. One of the translators admitted that it was impossible to take certain parts of the plot in Bangla and just translate it... so the editor agreed to a change of plot in those parts. This happened in particular with some of the plots involving codes/puzzles in Bangla... like in Royal Bengal Rohoshsho, Chhinnomosta'r Obhishap, etc.
If you know how to read and comprehend Bangla, stay the hell away from the English translations.
