Default What should be the XI vs. Sri Lanka?

Having watched the encounter vs. India this is my lineup:

Md. Ash
Alok Kapali
Habibul Bashar
Faisal Hossain
Rana
Masud
Mushfique
Mahmud
Rafique
Razzak
Tapash

Rajin Saleh is the 12th man! He needs a break!

I thought about this line-up. To me it's the best eleven for the moment. And the most interesting thing about this line-up is it comprises 6 bowlers - 3 pacers & 3 SLAs, who can bowl full 10 overs! Batting is our main worrying concern, but our top order bats don't score much anyway. On the other hand our 'so-called' lower order bats normally score most of the runs!

But I'd tweak a little in the batting order. I'd play Faisal at no.5 and Rana at no.4. Rana has always been asked to play holding role and thrived playing so. On the other hand Faisal can accelerate run-rate playing some lusty strokes at the final stage of the match.

As for Ash-Kaps opening pair, I quiet liked it. They are the players who have the ability to play quality pace bowling with full confidence, apparently. But only one of them should be given the license to kill, not both.

I like your selection pompous. However,

I think rana should open instead of Kapali and play Javed's role...

And I would fly one specialist batsman from Bangladesh to play in the place of Musfique.

1.Md. Ash 2. Rana 3. Alok Kapali 4.Habibul Bashar 5.Faisal Hossain 6.Another Batsman 7.Masud 8.Sujon
9. Rafiq 10. Razzak 11. Tapash

i think ash and rana should open and kaps should get the boot...although if kaps plays he may well score a bunch...i think rajin will also have a big game after 3 failures. other than that i like the above teams

Default my 11

tell u what writing off rajin is not that easy, he'll prove that in the next game. so, this is my 11:

1. Rana
2. Ash
3. habib-ba
4. Rajin
5. Alok
6. Faisal
7. Pilot
8. Rajjak (he really needs to move up the order)
9. Rafiq
10. Mushfiq (he really needs to go down the order. he is a bowler not an alounder anymore).
11. Tapash

Manjural
Ashraful
Rajin
Habibul
Alok
Faisal
Mashud
Rafique
Abdur
Tapash
Tareq/Mushfique/Mahmud

I would like to have 3 quicks and 3 spinners, but any less than 5 batsmen is not an option. Some would say alok should be up the order after his display against India, but he is needed in the middle more for this game against the sri lankan spinners. Amazing how the tables turn, i do recall many ppl calling for alok to be dropped. People try to think more consistently. The players we have now are virtually our best players (unfortunately), all they need is time. It doesnt matter who u pick, u won't see consistent performance from b'desh for years still.

There is no point in selecting the best 11 from a bunch of hopeless players...it doesn't matter who the first eleven are - it won't change the scenario at the end of the day.

I am waiting for the day when guys like Nafis, Dhiman, Nadif will be matrue enough to kick some butt.

Pilot will play for sure and Javed is not available so there are only 66 ways we can select 10 out of available 12. I think there is no big difference between these 66.

Don't agree with the statement 'hopeles' the players have got ability just need to show a bit of patience and application. They must try any occupy the crease.

Players like Nafis Iqbal, Aftab Ahmed, Nafees Ahmed are good batting prospects but should not be rushed in to the national side.

I am in favour of AgentSmith's line-up! It is crucial that we have the strongest batting line-up possible. We must, must score around the 250 mark to have a chance to win against SL.

Default What should be the XI vs. Sri Lanka?

Against Sri-Lanka we should not experiment, otherwise the '5-4' scoreboard back in the WC2003 could come back to haunt us.

1. Rana
2. Ashraful
3. Alok Kapali
4. Habibul Bashar
5. Faisal Hossain
6. Mushfique
7. Mahmud
8. Mashud
9. Rafique
10. Razzak
11. Tapash

Now I know I have placed Mahmud in before Mashud, but I feel it is worth trying with players that can take risks and get runs on the board, as well as have someone who can defend their wickets. As I have seen recently Mahmud takes the risks whereas Mashud likes to defend his wicket.

I also think its worth placing Kapali before Bashar, to see how well he could do there, and personally Bashar in ODI has not played well in any of the top three places, so let him move down one and let us hope!!

According to prothm alo, bashar gonna open today, AGAIN. and raj is likely to open too. then, paposh will replace tareq. so there is only one possibility of change, faisal out and mushfiq in.

According to Bhorer Kagoj probably Rajin is not playing tomorrow. I like this .. a break might bring his form back.

I'd like to see a lefty openning the batting tonight, the reason BD openners couldn't play Pathan in the openning spell will stay true for Vaas, who by the way is a better bowler and has a great nack of taking early BD wickets in a row.

So, I'll go for Rana facing the first ball, he is a fairly sound batsman and seems cool headed, Ash should stay where he is.

I don't think Bashar shold open, as he's not that technically sound. He scores runs due to his great hand-eye coordination, not with his footwork, there fore late order with less swing of the ball should help him.

Also, other lefties should be rotated according to the bowler in the middle and the batsman at the other end.

In addition Rafiq should not come before Shujon, we should try him as a pinch hitter since the top order doesn't deliver what's ask of'em anyway, there's nothing to loose.

My eleven;

1. Rana
2. Ash
3. Rajin
4. Bahsar
5. Faysal
5. Kapali
4. Pilot
8. Shujon/ Mushfiq
9. Rafiq
10. Razzaq
11. Tapash

Should be Rajin or Alok out, Mushfiq in. We should not start with Raj, he will be extremely valuable in the middle overs, when the shine is off the ball. Mushfiq & Taposh should open. Rajin has taken the Hannan rout with his career, soon he will start dropping catches too.
