Hmm.....We made it to the finals the last three times! I'll be happy if we can just keep that up....Srilanka thrashed Pakistan 7-1 a few days back and we all know what Afghanistan did recently!....Unbelievable as it may sound ... WE ARE IN A TOUGH GROUP!!! .... Had I said that about 20 years back ppl would have started throwing stones at me thinking I've gone totally mad!!!

Where is Mohammad Sujan? He is supposedly the country's best centre-back and plays for Abahani. Arif Khan Joy back in Bangladesh team, is he still as good as he was? I heard Anwaruddin the British-Bangladeshi footballer and captain of Dagenham and Redbridge was going to play for Bangladesh from now on. Anyway good luck Bangladesh, as long as you make the finals I'm happy.

Its pretty much Indians for the taking.
Only thing left to be seen is whether the rest can match 'em.
Realisticly,we'd hv to climb a big freagin mountain to touch that cup.
On the contrary, the word "SAFF Championship" works magic to our boys.
It IS our world cup. so lets hope the boys can pull a miracle here.

Sujan had a very prolonged injury problem and he didn't play a single game for Abahani last year.......but finally it seems like he is in good shape now and signed for another one year contract with Abahani. So, he needs to prove himself and hopefully we will see him in the national team near future.

Don't write off Maldives. I think they're quite a formidable side now as they drew with south korea 0-0. Srilanka is a good side as well. Very recently they beat Pak team by 7-1 in an AFC Challenge Cup qualification match.

If I remember correctly Abahani once visited Maldives and beat their national side 9-1 or something. Or was it in our land? Nevertheless, the difference of class was there. Now our national team gets out classed by theirs'? What sad stages I am witnessing for BD Football.
I had such a high hope when BKSP was stablished. Thought they would spit out world class players. At least the fitness level would be up there to play 90 mins. It seems like BKSP is spitting out garbage players. We went downhill.

it was in Dhaka and I think it was predecessor of Asian Champion League againest Champion of Male league. If my memory serve me right then it was 8-0 in Abahoni's favor at BNS. I think Premlal scored a hatric on that match

Thank you. Yes, the margin was 8 that I remember. We use to compete with Thailand mano against mano. Now just the name Thailand gets us down by 0-4. Actual game results has a scoreline of 6+ to nothing etc. The era of our green, red teams would compete with sides who would trounce the current BD national team.

SAFF squad draw with Bek Toro
Sports Reporter - link
Bangladesh national football team shared a goalless draw with Bek Toro Sasana FC in their final warm-up match in Bangkok before leaving the Thailand capital for Colombo last night.
Bek Toro, two-time Thai league champions and runners-up of the inaugural AFC Champions League in 2003, dominated the show but captain Aminul Haque was in tremendous form at the Bangladesh goal, foiling a series of rival raids.
Bangladesh, who played the match as part of their SAFF Football Championship preparation, created two great chances but striker Emily and substitute midfielder Faisal Mahmud fluffed their efforts.
Team manager Sheikh Mohammed Aslam informed the Bangladesh Football Federation over phone that the management including coach Abu Yusuf was happy to draw the match against a strong side, who have eight Thai internationals.
The management also thought that this draw would boost the team's confidence ahead of their SAFF opener against Bhutan on June 4 in Colombo.
Bangladesh, who play Afghanistan and co-hosts Sri Lanka on June 6 and 8 respectively, were expected to land in the Sri Lankan capital in early hours today.
Bangladesh's first preparation match in Bangkok was postponed due to heavy rain.
