Records that could be beaten in the Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh series
Hmm, well some players are close to certain milestones in Test crickets, which they have a chance of reaching in the 2-test series vs Sri Lanka. We can keep track of them here.
Batting Records
1) Mohammad Ashraful currently has 1972 Test runs - he needs 28 more runs ie 9.66 runs per innings to be the second Bangladeshi to reach 2000 Test runs. ACHIEVED in 1st Test.
2) Mushfiqur Rahim currently has 482 Test runs - he needs 18 more runs ie 9 runs per innings to reach 500 Test runs. ACHIEVED in 2nd Test
3) Shakib Al Hasan currently has 448 Test runs - he needs 52 more runs ie 17.33 runs per innings to reach 500 Test runs. ACHIEVED IN 1st Test
4) Tamim Iqbal currently has 384 Test runs - he needs 106 more runs ie 106 runs per innings to reach 500 Test runs.
5) Junaid Siddique currently has 405 Test runs - he needs 95 more runs ie 95 runs per innings to reach 500 Test runs.
6) Mehrab Hossain Jnr currently has 220 Test runs - he needs 12 more runs ie 12 runs per innings to reach 250 Test runs.
7) Mashrafe Mortaza currently has 695 Test runs - he needs 55 more runs ie 27.5 runs per innings to become only the eighth Bangladeshi batsman to reach 750 Test runs. ACHIEVED in 2nd Test.
Bowling Records
8) Shahadat Hossain currently has 49 Test wickets - he needs 1 more wicket ie 1 wicket per innings to reach 50 Test wickets, only the third Bangladeshi to do so (and the quickest). ACHIEVED in 2nd Test.
9) Shakib Al Hasan currently has 24 Test wickets - he needs 1 more wicket ie 0.25 wickets per innings to reach 25 Test wickets, only the seventh Bangladeshi to do so. ACHIEVED in 1st Test.
10) Mashrafe Mortaza currently has 74 Test wickets - he needs 1 more wicket ie 0.5 wickets per innings to reach 75 Test wickets, only the second Bangladeshi to do so (after Mohammad Rafique). ACHIEVED in 1st Test.
Fielding Records
11) Mohammad Ashraful currently has 19 Test catches - he needs 4 more catches ie 4 catches per innings to become the leading catch-taker in Bangladesh's Test history.
Alternative Records
1) The seventh-wicket partnership in the Bangladesh 2nd innings in the First Test between Shakib Al Hasan of 111, is a new seventh wicket record for Bangladesh in Test Cricket.
2) The match aggregate in terms of runs was 1289, a record in Tests involving Bangladesh.
3) Bangladesh passed 4000 Test runs vs Sri Lanka in the 1st Test.
4) Bangladesh's second innings score of 413 in the 1st Test vs Sri Lanka was their highest second innings score in an Test, beating 285/5 vs Zimbabwe in 2005.
5)That score was the highest score by Bangladesh in the forth innings of a Test.
Slightly far-fetched, could you lot give me any more if you find them? Thanks.

A slightly different perspective.....
1) Mohammad Ashraful currently has 1960 Test runs - he needs 540 more runs ie 135 per innings to be the first Bangladeshi to reach 2500 Test runs. This might re-ignite his career...
2) Mushfiqur Rahim currently has 408 Test runs - he needs 592 more runs ie 148 per innings to reach 1000 Test runs. You never know what this half pint little dynamo can do...
3) Shakib Al Hasan currently has 388 Test runs - he needs 612 more runs ie 153 per innings to reach 1000 Test runs.
4) Tamim Iqbal currently has 330 Test runs - he needs 670 more runs ie 168 per innings to reach 1000 Test runs
5) Junaid Siddique currently has 311 Test runs - he has no hope in hell to get much further in the upcoming series.....
6) Shahadat Hossain currently has 46 Test wickets - he needs 4 more wickets ie 1 per innings to reach 50 Test wickets, only the third Bangladeshi to do so (and probably the quickest). He can easily break the record of the most expensive for those 50 scalps...
7) Shakib Al hasan currently has 24 Test wickets - he needs 26 more wicket ie 6.5 per innings to reach 50 Test wickets, only the seventh Bangladeshi to do so. Entirely possible at his present form...
8) Mashrafe Mortaza currently has 71 Test wickets - he needs 4 more wickets ie 1 per innings to reach 75 Test wickets, only the second Bangladeshi to do so (after the great Mohammad Rafique). As long as his mystery pain stays away...

Shakib Al Hasan has not taken a wicket in the series yet; he needs 10 wickets at 10 per inning to get 10 wickets in an inning, the first Bangladeshi to ever do so.

Ash only needs to score 2 tons in 2 innings against the SL to be the first Bangladeshi to ever do so.

Ash has to score a double century against Srilanka to be the first Bangladeshi to ever do so. This should make his first milestone easier.

Some big ones:
1) Bangladesh could post the first test win against the mightily struggling Sri Lanka, provided we actually give 100% mentally and physically
2) Vaas scores triple century and saves Lanka from certain defeat (come on, gillespie scored 200*)!
3) We might actually have nothing to complain about for once

There are some errors in what the bowlers need per innings. In every test, bowlers will get chance to bowl only in a single innings. That means, Shadat needs 2 wickets per innings...

you mean, SL will rest all 3 of Vaas, Murali and Mendis? Avoiding an innings defeat can be difficult, even if only one of them is in the team.
If innings defeat can be somehow avoided, the bowlers will not get much chance in the opp's 2nd innings. They are unlikely to take all 20 wickets of the opposition.
