Default Who should open with Tamim against Pak series???

Tamim and Zunaed are both talent batsman and the best we have for the job right now as mentioned by Siddons also but

Zunaed is out of form right now. So, who do u guys think should open wid Tamim? Should we include some one new for this series as i think Imrul, Mehrab Jnr not ready for the opening slot yet.

Zunaed is a talent batsman but he has not done justice to his talent yet. I sometimes feel he doesnt have the luck as he seems to struggle even after getting a start.

We really need a good partner to open for us along with Tamim. We are having opening problems more over. It really worries who should open wid Tamim.

It will depend on the performances of Mehrab, Zunaid and Imrul in the Dhaka Premier League. Imrul is scoring some runs while Zunaid got dropped in the last round of the T20 league.

I wish Zunaid finds his rhythm back in the DPL.

I think that Nafees Iqbal should be given a chance to open with his lil bro in the Pak series, I always thought Nafees Iqbal had potential as a batsman but should have been given more chance in the team.

Probably Mehrab or Kayes. Id go with Mebrab, cause he actually performed in that last game. Junaid needs time to work things out. Dun't bring him back this early.

i would like to see Nafees Iqbal. BUt the question is is he in form?
BUt i think that Junaid should open. he should be picked over imrul Kayes because he has more experiansce. he should also be given more chances because BD doesnt have a whole lot of players. BUt i just wish that someone like NAfees Iqbal or JAved Omar were in form again.

Tamim Iqbal with injured Nafees Iqbal and Akram Khan as his runner. Might as well have the whole clan here...

Doesn't matter, whoever does will score a duck.

For us, the dice starts to roll at 10/3.

Sometimes I don't understand you guys. Mehrab did pretty well opening in the matches against Zimbabwe but yet we want Imrul opening? Why don't we just stick to the man who performed? Mehrab should obviously open with Tamim!

I don't think it's that obvious that Mehrab should open with Tamim. Don't forget that we were chasing really low targets against Zim so we were able to afford Mehrab playing at a slow pace.

Against Pakistan, Pak will reach a higher target and IMO Mehrab wouldn't be able to play at a higher pace and would get out trying to play an attacking shot. Mehrab's SR in ODI's is around 50

And if we bat first, if Mehrab stays there for a while without scoring much, we just wouldn't be able to set a high enough score for Pak IMO.

I do aggree that it's better to have someone in the crease than to just throw away wickets, but in ODI's, specially against Pak, we have to also be thinking of scoring runs.

options:

- junaid: the talent but lack of consistency and seems to be going backwards
- imrul: consistency last domestic season but not this season nor internationally
- mehrab: 16 ODIs with a strike rate of 41.49, one good score doesn't=consistency
- nafis iqbal: a good list A domestic season averaging 50, strike rate is a bit low though
- JO: imo we'd be going backwards when we need to go forward
- nazmus sadat: fairly consistent overall in list A, harder hitter, handy with the ball
- naeem: use to open in age group cricket, talent, currently batting very low in the order
- riyad: great form in domestic FC cricket this season, batting low internationally
- mithun ali: barely any experience but so far fairly consistent and great strike rate

personally at this point i'd put it between naeem, riyad and NI. mithun i'd want to try in t20s first, mehrab bats too slow, imrul and junaid need more time despite their talent, JO like i said is going backwards and nazmus, well nazmus would be the next one i'd think about, he's probably the only decent domestic opener who hasn't been given a chance for the national team but being able to hit hard, score fast and bowl a bit certainly makes him an interesting prospect.

That's what we need for opening with tamim, not a great strike rate, just able to stay and rotate strike. If Tamim is staying in the wicket, RR isn't a factor. We don't need allout hitting from all openers from ball one. Even Tamim is more agressive than he should be in opening. We don't need another one to partner him.

naeem islam, we still havent seen much from this guy batting since he debuted so i think he should be given a shot.

mehrab lacks the shot selection required for odi hence strike rate is really low and so hes not someone who can take advantage of initial powerplays.

btw whatever did happen to sarkar? i really had high hopes for him and hope he can get back into the team..
