West Indies final NRR is 0.236 and ours right now is 1.112
So all we need to do is beat Pakistan and we are through!

BTW, I looked at the schedule, and I have noticed that there are 8 QF fixtures being played on 23/24 january. If BD wins tonight, they will face India, If they lose, they face Afghanistan or HK. I think so.

Well, if nothing else, we got two promising allrounders from this bunch - Mahmudul Hasan and Sabbir Rahman. Sabbir, I guess, got better potential since he is a legspinner.

Just you can hope they now know the taste of devastating losses, so can grow the mental strength to cope at difficult times....let's get the plate boys, let's thrash all the other teams.

England beat India convincingly. I looked a bit at the match, the English side was clinical and India really fought against them, I have to conclude that England plays very well. They now play WI in the first QF playoffs, and I think that they will win.
BD plays HK in the first QF for the plate championship. Based on all the teams playing now, BD will be the winner, but still it is no consolation for not going through to the super league. They gave away 2 important matches when it mattered. Seems that they are following the National team's example.

Yeah that's so annoying. With our record against England, I would've backed our boys to beat England and reach the semifinals. Even if we win the plate championship I'm still disappointed with our results.

Wow, England has a terrible record against India @ U19 level, last few times they've played it's been 100+ runs defeat.
Last series England played, they lost to Bangladesh. They lost to NZ in the warm up game.
I'm very surprised they could beat India.
India/Pak QF will be good, it will be televised.

It was a clinical defeat. England did very well against the bowlers, one guy made a century, and when India came in to bat, they were choked completely, bowling, fielding and wicket keeping was spot on. India really struggled, and I am shaking my head thinking that -Is this the favourite to win the cup? England made them look less than ordinary.

Pakistan beat India and West Indies beat England in the QF playoffs, so India is out. the commentator was mentioning that they did not speak much about the West Indians, but here they are through to Semis. They might win the cup. I feel that Pakistan will win the end.

Provided we get past HK, we should be facing the winner of Afghanistan vs PNG, in plate semi. I am looking forward to see our boys playing against Afghanis.

It was a closely fought match and Pakistan got the better of India. they held their nerve. It was a rain curtailed match. At one time, it looked like the match will be abandoned, and pakistan will go through to the semis after winning 3 matches in the league stage, but India wanted to play very badly, so they can win to proceed to the Semis, but the Pakistanis prevailed.
Now, England and India are out. Pakistan, Australia, South Africa and West Indies will be in the semis.Very happy to see the Windians there.

I find this whole plate championship confusing. I don't understand who plays who? Cricinfo says there's 13th place play offs, 5th place play offs, qf play offs sf play offs. I don't get it where are all these play offs coming from? And what's our fixtures and potential fixtures?

Just the way the QFs, SFs and the Final are happening in the main championship; the team that got knocked out will go through similar QFs, SFs and a Final. And the one who wins the final will be the team placed at 9 and the runner-up will the the 10th, and so on, as the first 8 are in the main competition.

Bangladesh won their match against HK, but not convincingly.
SL beat SA and Australia beat NZ,
Now, it is WI against Pakistan, and SL against Australia. After watching the SLs play, I feel that they have played well. It is a tossup now, but I still feel that Pakistan is the strongest team.
BD play PNG on the 26th and they should win this match. I feel that they will comfortably win the plate, small consolation for not progressing to the QF.

Pakistan beat WI, so they are through to the finals. Australia play SL tomorrow, anybody's game, but I am pretty sure that Pakistan will win this trophy. i have seen them play very well against India and West Indies to win the matches. I thought that they would have choked against both teams, but somehow they made it. They seem to know how to win matches unlike their national team.

I was thinking the same. If BD won one of those close encounters and might have faced Lanka which could be another crucial hurdle to assail. But if reached Final to face AUS, with high confidence level they gained from the warm-up it might turn out to be a walk in the park.
