I am not sold on Mithun Chakraborty. To me the best players in Bangladesh against India are Mahmudullah Riad, Tamim Iqbal and Mortaza. Not Shakib, who is the best player in Bangladesh side.

Mushy and Riyad are used to rescuing us. They're confused as to what to do when top order delivers and you're not in a crisis situation.

I don't see why Mehedi can't bat higher up and have Hider at 8 cos he can give the ball a good whack.

So............

Let's do the post mortem yo.

#toosoon ?

What EXACTLY did bloody ffin go wrong? I was too shell shocked after pulling the plug after Riyad's final ball.

Personally, I think Mash did the right thing by leaving an uncertain bowler as the final one. He needed to go for blood and so used up the seamers.

I think Riyad had a terrible lackadaisical body language. Had he been sharp and kept his line and length tight....

...oh well. But it seemed he GAVE UP long before bowling the first ball of the last over.

Liton a total hero. Respect for being MoM. That's an unusual one.

But we have to address the stuffs that went wrong and tie up the loose ends.

FWIW: I had a strange dream today. Ash playing for us in WC2019 final. India 68/3 BUT all the top three players had 68 runs.. wtf.. dreams are bizzare like that.

.
The seamers were doing an amazing job after Rohit got out....

Now, the first instinct was to use them up as very few people thought match would go to 50th over, either India would chase well before 50 overs or we would get them all out.

In retrospect, Sarkar should have had an over or 2 between 20th and 35th over.

That would have allowed Mustafiz and Rubel to do the last overs between them.

But there was not way of telling that when the game was going on

I was surprised though at Opu being given his full 10 overs, considering he was giving away more and more runs

No fault for Mashrafee, in fact a ton of credit to him for dragging the game to full 50 overs, when Batsmen barring Litton and Miraz did jack. It's actually the senior batsmen that failed this time. Mahmudullah had a pretty poor tournament barring that one game against Afghanistan.

Hider shouldn't bat any higher than 9. Just giving it a wack isn't good enough to bat in the top 8. The #8 should be a guy who can average 20 at a good strike rate (90+ at minimum, 100+ ideally). Miraz has enough quality to average 20, but his strike rate is on the low side. Still he's young and has a lot of potential.

I'd like to see Hider and one of the young seamers like Mishu (took BD list A record 8 wicket haul last season) and Shoriful (without Taskin, we need a tall guy who can get the ball to bounce) for WC 2019.

Fizz, Mash, Rubel are the obvious first choice seamers but with 14 games we need a lot of depth for our injury prone quicks. Hider, Mishu, and Shoriful should complete our 6 pacers for the WC squad.

That leaves 9 spots for batsmen:

Tamim, Shakib, Mushy, Riyad take 4 spots.

Liton, Miraz are almost certainly in leaving 3 spots open.

A 3rd WK is probably overkill so that rules Nurul out. We probably might want to take another specialist spinner just in case...I would gamble on Rishad (or Jubair) as all the good teams have a wrist spinner and we freakin need one.

2 spots left for Imrul, Mosaddek, Shanto, Sabbir, and Soumya to compete for. Maybe even toss Nasir and Mominul in there as well since we almost always have a surprise pick for the WC.

Exciting times if most squad guess comes true.

If one of Mehedi and Nazmul could have even bowled 2-3 right overs between them, we could have won
