ক্রিকেট বোর্ড কর্মকর্তাদের কথার সঙ্গে কাজের মিল খোঁজা বড্ড বোকামী! বিশেষ করে অধিনায়ক নির্বাচন নিয়ে। সোমবার কার্যনির্বাহী কমিটির মূলতবী সভায় বিশ্বকাপের জন্য অধিনায়ক এবং সহ-অধিনায়ক নির্বাচনের কথা থাকলেও শেষপর্যন্ত তা হয়নি।

কয়েক ঘন্টা অপেক্ষার পর সাংবাদিকরা বিসিবির মিডিয়া কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান জালাল ইউনুসের কাছ থেকে জানতে পান অধিনায়ক এবং সহ-অধিনায়ক পরে ঘোষণা করা হবে। রীতিমতো বোকা বনে যাওয়ার অবস্থা। অথচ রোববার জালাল ইউনুসই জানিয়েছিলেন মূলতবী সভাতেই অধিনায়কের নাম ঘোষণা করা হবে।


পরে বলতে নির্ধারিত একটি দিন বলা হয়নি। ২ অথবা ৩ জানুয়ারি বিশ্বকাপ দলনেতা এবং সহকারী দলনেতার নাম প্রকাশ করবে বিসিবি। মিরপুর বিসিবি কার্যালয়ে সোমবার সন্ধ্যায় এক সংবাদ ব্রিফিংয়ে এর কারণও ব্যাখ্যা করেন জালাল ইউনুস, “পরিচালকদের মতামতে অধিনায়ক হিসেবে দুইজন এবং সহ-অধিনায়ক হিসেবে তিনজনের নাম এসেছে। সেকারণেই চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া সম্ভব হয়নি। এছাড়া কোচ জেমি সিডন্স অস্ট্রেলিয়াতে থাকায় অপেক্ষা করতে হচ্ছে। কোচের সঙ্গে আলোচনা করে আগামী মাসের শুরুতে দু’টো নাম ঘোষণা করে দেওয়া হবে!”


আসলে অধিনায়ক নির্বাচন নিয়ে কোন সমস্যা হয়নি। জটিলতা তৈরি হয় সহ-অধিনায়ক নিয়ে। সভায় উপস্থিত ছিলেন এমন একজন পরিচালক নাম প্রকাশ না করার শর্তে বাংলানিউজকে জানান,“কর্মকর্তাদ� ��র অনেকে চায় না মুশফিকুর রহিমকে সহ-অধিনায়ক করতে। অনেকে চেয়েছেন নিজেদের কাব থেকে একজনকে সহ-অধিনায়ক করতে। এনিয়ে পক্ষ-বিপক্ষ তৈরি হওয়ায় শেষপর্যন্ত কোচের সিদ্ধান্তের ওপর নির্ভর করতে হচ্ছে।”


মাশরাফি বিন মুর্তজা চোট আক্রান্ত হওয়ায় অধিনায়কের আলোচনায় ছিলেন না। সাকিব আল হাসানকে অধিনায়ক করার বিষয়টিও একপ্রকার নিশ্চিত হয়ে আছে। তবুও অধিনায়কের নাম প্রকাশ করা হয়নি। এবিষয়ে জানতে চাইলে কূটনৈতিক উত্তর দেন মিডিয়া কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান,“১৯ জানুয়ারি যেহেতু বিশ্বকাপ স্কোয়াড ঘোষাণা করা হবে। সেকারণে অধিনায়ক নির্বাচনে একটু সময় নিচ্ছি আমরা। এছাড়া অধিনায়কের সঙ্গে সহ-অধিনায়কের পদটিও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।”


অভিজ্ঞতা এবং পারফরমেন্সের বিচারে সহ-অধিনায়ক হওয়ার কথা মুশফিকুর রহিমের। ওয়েন্ট ইন্ডিজ সফরে মাশরাফির আঘাত পাওয়ার পর সাকিবের সহকারী ছিলেন মুশফিকুর। টানা কয়েকটি সিরিজ এই নিয়মে চলে। এরপর থেকেই গন্ডগোল। সংবাদ ব্রিফিংয়ে জানানো হয়, ক্রিকেট পরিচালনা বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যান এনায়েত হোসেন সিরাজকে দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে কোচ জেমি সিডন্সের সঙ্গে কথা বলে সহ-অধিনায়ক নির্বাচনের জন্য।

Agree with every word you said. These types of selfish club officials are detrimental to the progress of our cricket . Although it's beyond infuriating & frustrating I'm confident that this kind of narrow mentality will change for the better as time progresses.

I think so too. Not because the change will come from the top, but it will be forced by the performing and responsible players at the bottom, as well as intense public support for those players.

Thanks for the good news, I was in dark total on this issue since Loitta said captain will be piked up way later! I just logged in to BC today since then and it made my day here in Dhaka. Good job BCB at last.
