Selectors made a huge mistake in selecting T20 team.

They should have selected some young players for T20 instead Imruls and Naeems. T20 is the perfect version to give young players international taste.

This is a very good point Jadukor. Nafees has some good knocks in the ICL.

Those were played some 3 years back. Neither SN or IK has played any T20 of that sort since then. So doesn't make much of a difference at this point.

I'm not advocating for IK over SN here mind you.
TIK and IK has been a stable and successful opening pair for B'desh over the last couple of years, so the preferred choice is not to break it.

So far its an alright squad for T20. Remember, we haven't played a t20 in a long time and no domestic t20 tournament was there in recent times. That's why its hard to just identify any players as t20 specialist. Rokibul was always a big NO NO, but yesterday he played fluently.

I think we need more domestic tournament and few regular intl matches to understand our strengths and weaknesses. Right now, the selectors are going with their gut feelings.

Just because Nafees scored 16 off 51 deliveries today? Don't forget that today's one was a 45 over match. And talk about T20. Nafees score unbeaten 61 off 55 in the last prac match. But the match on the 9th of October is going to be a T20 against the same side. Let's see how he does.

Yes, against a local bowling attack and WI attack.... Shows more real abilities, irrespective of format. SN wasn't under any pressure, rather his innings was putting pressure on others. Had it been in Test, I could take your logic. 16 of 51 isn't near acceptable SR even in ODIs.

Yes your quite correct. But it was just one match I guess. But the match on the 9th will actually tell us that whether dropping Nafees for Twenty20 was a wise idea or not. Still hope he can come back.

Mushfiqur Rahim had to break a long-held superstition after being appointed Bangladesh's captain. For the past six years, he has made it a point not to speak to anyone in the media on the eve of an international match. Though he stuck to it on every occasion, that all changed on Monday when he spoke of his ambitions as a captain, and the realistic goals he has set ahead of the series against West Indies; he even admitted to prepping himself mentally before he betrayed his routine.
Bangladesh take on West Indies in the solitary Twenty20 on October 10, marking Mushfiqur's debut as captain. He hardly resembles one; the towering Darren Sammy even jokingly crouched as they posed with the trophies. But Mushfiqur wasn't asking the West Indians to bend down as yet, the 23-year-old instead wishing for a good start and a lockdown by the spinners.
"The start is very important," said Mushfiqur. "Like it was against New Zealand who were well prepared last year, it is going to be the same with West Indies. We need to believe that we can win against them and that will come when we make a good start.
"In international cricket, whether you're a captain or not, there's a lot of pressure. We'll get home support and help from the wicket, so I think sometimes it's better to look at the positives," he added.
He wants to mark his ascent as the leader of the pack with change in Bangladesh's fortunes. "We couldn't find the results as expected during the last tour. I want the team to perform as a unit. The difference that I want to create is by finding positive results," said Mushfiqur.
Coach Stuart Law, in his first home series in charge, believed that the new skipper is the sort of character everyone wants in a team. "Mushy is very much his own man," said Law. "He's very driven and knows what he needs to do to get the best out of himself.
"He's one of those players you love having in your team. He works very hard and hopefully that ethic comes into the team now. He's a great example to the younger players.
"I believe we can win the series. West Indies are a good outfit. We have to play well to beat them. They're ranked higher than us, I believe we go into this as the underdog.
"As long as we play smart cricket, we are a force at home," he said, adding that he wanted some international teams taking part in the BCB Cup though he regarded the preparatory one-day tournament as satisfactorily "competitive".

মুশফিক: হ্যাঁ অধিনায়ক হিসেবে আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেটে আমার অভিষেক হতে যাচ্ছে। অনেক গর্বের বিষয়। জিম্বাবুয়েতে যাওয়ার আগে আমাদের প্রস্তুতিতে একটু ঘাটতি ছিলো। এখানে সেই ঘাটতি নেই। আমরা অনেকগুলো প্র্যাকটিস ম্যাচ খেলেছি। ব্যাটসম্যানরা রান পেয়েছেন। বোলাররাও মোটামুটি ভালো কররেছে। ধারাবাহিকতা রাখতে পারলে সিরিজ থেকে ভালো ফলাফল আসতে পারে।

প্রশ্ন: মুশফিক আপনি তো সিরিজের আগে কথা বলতেন না। এখন বলতে হচ্ছে। আপনি প্রস্তুত ছিলেন?

মুশফিক: হ্যাঁ আগে কথা বলতাম না। তবে যেদিন থেকে দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে তখন থেকে প্রস্তুতি নিতে শুরু করেছি। আমার মনে হয় যে কোন অবস্থায় মানিয়ে নিতে পারলে ভালো হয়। আগে থেকেই মানসিক প্রস্তুতি ছিলো আমাকে খেলার আগের দিন কথা বলতে হবে। আশা করি কোন সমস্যা হবে না।

প্রশ্ন: এই সিরিজে আপনার এবং দলের প্রত্যাশা কি?

মুশফিক: শেষ সিরিজে প্রত্যাশা মতো দল ভালো খেলতে পারেনি। এই সিরিজে চেষ্টা থাকবে যাতে দল হিসেবে আমরা পারফর্ম করতে পারি। ফলাফল ভালো করতে পারি। ব্যাটসম্যানরা যাতে অনেক রান করে, বোলাররা উইকেট নেয় আর ফিল্ডাররা ভালো ফিল্ডিং করে। এটাই।

প্রশ্ন: অধিনায়ক হিসেবে বাড়তি চাপ মনে হচ্ছে?

মুশফিক: আন্তর্জাতিক খেলায় আপনি অধিনায়ক হন বা না হন, প্রত্যেকটা খেলোয়াড়ের জন্য বিশাল বড় একটা চাপ। এই সিরিজে আমাদের জন্য অনেক বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ। হোমে খেলা, আমরা যদি ভালো খেলতে পারি তা হলে দর্শকদের সমর্থন পাওয়া যাবে। উইকেটেরও সুবিধা পাওয়া যাবে। আমার মনে হয় ইতিবাচক ভাবে দেখলে ভালো হবে। সব সময় আমরা নেতিবচক চিন্তা করি। আমরা যদি ইতিবাচক ভাবে চিন্তা করি, তা হলে সুযোগও আসতে পারে।


প্রশ্ন: সিরিজে আপনাদের প্রত্যাশা কি। দলের সবাইকে কি কোন বার্তা দিয়েছেন?

মুশফিক: অনেকগুলো বার্তাই সবাইকে দেওয়া হয়েছে। তাদের কাছ থেকে অনেক ভালো ‘ফিডব্যাক’ পেয়েছি এবং কালকে (মঙ্গলবার) থেকে তার প্রতিফলন দেখবেন।

প্রশ্ন: শেষ সিরিজটা ভালো হয়নি। এই সিরিজ থেকে কি ধরণের ফল আশা করছেন?

মুশফিক: আমাদেরকে পূনরায় ভালো মতো একতাবদ্ধ হওয়া দরকার। এরপরে ম্যাচ ধরে ধরে যেতে হবে। আমার মনে হয় টি-টোয়েন্টিতে এখনো আমরা শক্তিশালী দল হয়ে উঠতে পারিনি। আমরা এখন খেলা শিখছি। যদিও শেষ প্রস্তুতি ম্যাচ অনেক ভালো হয়েছে। পেসবোলারা যদি জায়গায় বল করতে পারে এবং ভালো শুরু এনে দিতে পারে। আমার মনে হয় এখানে একটা সুবিধা হবে।

প্রশ্ন: ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ প্রস্তুতি ম্যাচগুলোতে খুবই ভালো খেলেছে। একটা ফর্মে থাকা দলের বিপক্ষে খেলা কেমন হতে পারে?

মুশফিক: ২০০৯ সালে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের যে দলটা খেলেছে সেই দল মোটামুটি শক্তিশালী ছিলো। তাদের মাঠে খেলে ভালো না করলে তাদেরকে হারানো সম্ভব না। প্র্যাকটিস ম্যাচ দেখে একটা দলের শক্তির বিচার করা যায় না। আমাদের সে রকম কোন বোলারও ছিলো না যারা প্রস্তুতি ম্যাচে খেলছে। ফতুল্লা এবং মিরপুরের উইকেটও সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন। মিরপুরে স্পিনাররা যদি ভালো বল করে সঙ্গে পেস বোলাররা যদি ভালো করে। আশা করি অন্যরকম খেলা হবে।

প্রশ্ন: খেলায় তো নতুন নিয়ম চালু হচ্ছে। পরিবর্তিত নিয়মের সঙ্গে মানিয়ে নেওয়া কতটা চ্যালেঞ্জ?

মুশফিক: চেষ্টা করছি খাপ খাইয়ে নেওয়ার। বিসিবি কাপে খেলেছি। আশা করছি যত তাড়াতারি সম্ভব খাপ খাইয়ে নেবো।

প্রশ্ন: আপনার দল কতটা ব্যালেন্স?

মুশফিক: আমার মনে হয় যে ১৪ জন আছে তারা এই সময়ের সেরা। খুবই ভারসাম্য একটি দল। অনেক অলরাউন্ডার আছে, পেস বোলার আছে, ব্যাটসম্যান আছে এবং অনেক স্পিন অলরাউন্ডার আছে। প্রস্তুতিও অনেক ভালো হয়েছে। কিন্তু কেন্দ্রে গিয়ে যদি পারফর্ম করতে না পারি। এগুলোর কোন মূল্য থাকবে না। কথা কথাই থেকে যাবে।

প্রশ্ন: টি-টোয়েন্টির গুরুত্ব কতটা। গুরুত্ব অনুযায়ী বেশি ম্যাচ খেলা প্রয়োজন মনে করছেন কি না?

মুশফিক: আইপিএল এবং বিগ ব্যাশ যেগুলো হয়, সেখানে আমাদের অনেকে খেলে না। আমরা শেষবার ২০০৬ সালে জিম্বাবুয়ের বিপক্ষে টি-টোয়েন্টি ম্যাচ খেলেছি। মনে হয় দ্বিতীয় (আসলে হবে প্রথম) টি-টোয়েন্টি হবে। আমরা টেস্ট খুব কম খেলি বলে ১০ বছরে প্রত্যাশিত জায়গায় পৌঁছাতে পারিনি। আমার মনে হয় টি-টোয়েন্টিতেও ঘাটতি থেকে যাচ্ছে।

প্রশ্ন: সিরিজে ভালো খেলতে হলে কোন বিভাগকে দায়িত্ব নিতে হবে?

মুশফিক: সিরিজটা ভালো খেলতে হলে ব্যাটসম্যানদেরকে ৬০ ভাগ দায়িত্ব নিতে হবে। দেশের মাঠে বোলাররাই সবসময় ভালো ম্যাচ জেতায়। শেষ এক বছরে পেস বোলার রুবেল-শফিউল অনেক ভালো বল করছে। আমার মনে হয় ব্যাটসম্যানরা যদি একটু দায়িত্ব নেয়, বিশেষ করে টপ অর্ডার, মিডল অর্ডার এবং লোয়ার মিডল অর্ডার তিনটা বিভাগে ভালো করতে পারি। যদি বোলারদেরকে একটা ভালো লক্ষ্য দিতে পারি, ২৪০-২৫০ তা হলে ওয়ানডেতে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বীতা� �ূর্ণ হবে।

প্রশ্ন: ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের উপর চাপ তৈরি করা সম্ভব কি না। হলে কি ভাবে?

মুশফিক: একটা ম্যাচ ভালো খেলতে পারলে এবং শুরুটা ভালো করতে পারলে মনে হয় ওদের ওপর চাপ তৈরি করতে পারবো। যেটা নিউজিল্যান্ডের বিপক্ষে করতে পেরেছিলাম। নিউজিল্যান্ডের ভালো প্রস্তুতি ছিলো। দলের ভারসাম্য ছিলো। কিন্তুআমরা প্রথম দিন থেকে ভালো খেলেছি। প্রথম ওয়ানডেটা জিতি নেওয়ার পর তাদের বিশ্বাসটা ওই ভাবে ছিলো না যে, আমাদেরকে হারাতে পারবে। আমার মনে হয় ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষেও একই। আমরা যদি টি-টোয়েন্টি দিয়ে সেটা করতে পারি। তাহলে তাদের দলের ভেতরে যে সমন্বয় আছে, সেটা হয়তো পরের দিকে নাও থাকতে পারে। কালকের শুরুটা খুবই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। সবাইকে সেটা বলা আছে, আমার মনে হয় কালকের খেলা ভালো হবে।
