Sri Lanka triumphs
HYDERABAD: Sri Lanka won the inaugural Steel Exchange of India Ltd Afro-Asia Cup Twenty20 cricket championship (under-17) with a three-wicket win over India in the final at the Lal Bahadur Stadium here on Saturday.
Batting first, India scored 159 for three. In reply, Sri Lanka reached the target in the last over with D. Jayasundara 34 (27b, 4x4, 1x6) playing a crucial innings in the slog overs.
The AP Legislative Assembly Speaker, Kiran Kumar Reddy, gave away the prizes.
The scores: India 159 for three (Apurva Sharma 48 n.o., Ilyas Zubeidi 49, Kunal Dubey 35) lost to Sri Lanka 160 for seven in 19.3 overs (S. Kashawa 38, D. Jayasundara 34, Syed Anwar four for 22).
Semifinals: Sri Lanka 167 in 19.5 overs (R. Gamage 34, C. Mapatuna 33, D. Jayasundara 32, Y.A. Imran three for 28) bt Bangladesh 125 for nine in 20 overs (S.R. Shad 31 n.o., R. Gamage three for 15) .
