The evil that men do lives after them. The good is often interred with their bones.
If we did parse the stats, we do not have a true minnow basher. What we have are the artifacts of inconsistency.

Again people, we are rewarding ash for just a single century. He deserves to be praised but isnt the job of a top order batsmen to score big runs such as 100's day and day out.
But us as bangladeshi fans after one hundred we suddenly believe with our full heart that a player has become a legend. We always fall for this same trap, and i cannot stress enough its what always disappoints us as it could turn out that ash makes below 10 next game.
We have to stop becomeing complacent and over excited after one game. The prophet muhammed (pbuh) said that you should always remain moderate headed. Lets just dua for ash to maintain this level of confidence and consistency, and then we can be licensed to call him whatever 'positive' including 'minnow basher'.....

I object to this thread. This is downright, blatant plagiarism! Huh! Gopal Bhar came up with this idea long time ago.

playing minnows is like effective going back to domestic cricket or the A team and scoring runs. so its good that ash (and others) is doing that. it boosts confidence as well as teaches one how to play situational cricket when you get to the bigger clashes against G7 teams.
ash has become a pretty adept minnow basher.

ash's minnow bashing turning point was in 2006, when he got dropped for the home series, hit 263 domestically in a FC match, then came back batting at #7 until the world cup 2007. that was his minnow bashing turning point.
before that time, in 16 innings, ash averaged 21.26 @ a strike rate of 75 against minnow teams. since then, he's averaged 45.12 @ a strike rate of 76 in 23 innings. he's more than doubled his productivity against minnows.

His last two ODI centuries are against minnows (UAE, Zim), so, yeah, he is showing promise. But SN is still the king

No one will EVER replace Nafees as the almighty king of minnow bashing. That guy is irreplaceable.
I can't believe anyone would even suggest such a thing.

Since March 2008, Ashraful averaged 21.9 against SA, Pak, SL, Ind, NZ, and Aus ( link)
In the same period he averaged 50.6 against UAE, Ireland, Zim, and WI (our only matches against WI in the period were played in the last tour) ( link)
So, yeah, I guess he is a more of minnow basher now than a Goliath basher

SN's career average against minnows is 52.88 ( link)
As I mentioned above, Ash is maintaining 50.6 against minnows since March 2008. So, Ash actually done well to replace SN as our new minnow basher in last year and half!

Good to have minnows to bash when we too are minnows to many. Good to be consistently better than some again. Good to have nowhere to go but up. If these wins help us close the gap between us and sides like the "real" West Indies, New Zealand, Pakistan, and to a certain extent India, I welcome them and the minnow bashers who can get us there -- so be it! As long as we don't use terms like "world class" too promiscuously ...
Our team is coming together at long last. Thanks in no small part to Shakib and Chacha.

Surprised you didn't mention England. Those guys would receive a real hiding from us if we played in Bangladesh.

so what...Zim/Ireland/etc... are international team. how can u forget Murali and Jaysuriya, etc....they all make runs or take wickets against us like tape ball matches....so u can't really say anything bout Ashraful...this is his first time ever he scored 1 century and 2 fifty in 4 games...this guy is still young and we need him to stay healthy and play well...it's sad how ppl dont care for him anymore...just so u kno when the smoke clears Ashraful will still be in the team...Sakib and others are OK but Ash is different...he is a fool with kool batting style....

Just a clarification. If you are not one of the G8s, you are a M..... Until you prove it otherwise. Shakib is hell bent on "otherwise". I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
