I still dont know why we, in Bangladesh, never get the concept of 'greatness". Bashar is not a great player, we all know that. But I wouldve expected some sort of decency from him in admitting his future for ODIs. Does he honestly think that he can make a difference or just trying to 'defend', 'rationalize' his position. Slowly my anger is turning into pitty for Bashar,, ( kinda like what I felt for Ershad..) Ian Chappell said it well:

title of the thread should be "bangladesh aims to win the odi series against india". man how can get rid of this trouble Bashar? the guy cant deliver anything, he is a pathetic figure in the field, he cant run, he cant bat........... and then he has the audacity to make bold remarks about a series , he shouldnt be part of.
In Bangladesh, political leaders remain there whether or not anyone likes them, shameless, pathetic figures. seems like bashar has taken a lesson from them.

Yes, I agree. Bashar is a liability. Captaincy sucked. And he is talking big as he did against Aus in super 8 to set a target of 180+ and he himself did a test innings (45 ball a 22!!) forgot that it was 22 over game.
So he has been totally worthless in ODI.

My guess is our spin trio might not be as effective as it was in the WC, I mean choking in the middle overs. India's batters are well conditioned for spin. I however expect some of batters to thrive becasue they should not have the fear of rising balls. But can they score 270+? If Nafis is given a chance he better perform. This is also Bashar's last chance.

well that wasn't an issue in the world cup, so i guess there are ways to work around it.

I meant Ind has an edge in bowling because of their pacers. But Tamim, Ash, Aftab and Sakib should do better in home condition. I am guessing ODI result 2-1 for either IND or BD

Exactly. And spin isn't the only issue that Indian batsmen have to worry about. They also have to worry about the tricks that all three SLAs can play on the batsmen. Also, I hope someone goes and tells Mashrafee that the Indian team is taking Bangladesh for granted
We'll see some more of those 140+

I think BD is no longer a team that can be bowled within 200 in home condition. Can we keep the bowling tight against the likes of Shewag, Dravid, Dhoni and Yuvraz? So. to beat Ind they have to score 250+. And, can our boys do it, or they are gonna throw their wkts?

Very positive attitude from Bashar but not over-confident. Let's hope he and his boys can deliver when the time comes.

Looking back at this shows how much improvement occured in our team. I mean last year we were happy to see zimbabwe and now we are talking of defeating India. If you dont take my word for it, then go take a look at the match archive forums and see what most fans back then were expecting. I truly now believe we are in a new era of bangla cricket. Come on guys I encourage you all to look back at the match forum of the australia series and the series in zimbabwe(first one) and then look back at this thread.
And for those ungrateful fans who cant stand to see bashar's brave comment, I got two words for you:.................... well you can figure that out cant you?

The pressure is on India, not us, Bashar's mind games only add to it, keep it up!

On the contrary, the bowling is very good of late. I'm more worried about the batting...

...and they will. This coming series is getting the attention like Pak vs India series...May be in years people will lost interest in Pak-Indu series by promoting BD-India series on top!!?

Bashar might be back in form in this series. He deserves more what we want to give him I believe.
