'bhua, bhua' is our national slogan, not 'Joy Bangla' or 'Bangladesh Zindabad'
concerts
meetings
sporting contests
it is a common refrain.

I think it should be our civic duty to stop others from this cowardly behaviour. So someone threw a rock. Why did the others around him tell him not to do it? Obviously its our mentality. All these incidents where even our local players get spat on (in domestics), really is disgusting. When I said something along the lines of "don't do it" I got a reply saying they deserve it.
No player deserves your abuse. If you go to work and make a mistake, do you get verbally and physically abused? Do you get spat on, be called bhua, gadha, halar po, harami by your colleagues and your juniors? I understand they get paid to play, does not mean they sign up to get abused.
Insulting your guests is not part of the Bangladeshi culture. Who are these murkhos? Why are the 10000+ BC members not doing anything to stop this? Why is it acceptable in our culture to abuse people and be racist? WHY?

Insulting guests isn't part of our culture but people have a tendency to do/say things they wouldn't ordinarily do/say when they are in a large crowd. For this to change, there needs to be a change in the sensibilities of the average cricket fan. And that is a task way beyond the remit/capabilities of an ordinary cricket administrator/official.
In any case, BC, for it's part, has done remarkable things to improve the image of the Bangladeshi cricket fan. You may remember that they organized flowers (and apology letters) to be given to the players after the infamous bus-throwing incident during the World Cup.
From what Reyme has posted above, I can only surmise that they don't want news of this incident to spread because it is relatively minor and would attract disproportionately bad publicity.

Let me share my personal experience.
During WC 2011, i went to CTG Stadium to watch Bangladesh Vs England match. I sat at lower stand. So, i was very close to boundary lines. During English bowling, Ajmal Shahzad was fielding in front of me. You won't believe about 15-20 people were shouting "oi Paki...oi Paki" at him. I along with few other were so embarrassed. I requested few people not to do that. And you know what they replied ? "Pakistani'r jonno eto dorod ken". I was so surprised and humiliated to hear that I did not bother to argue with that a***h*** further. They kept shouting at him for several times. Thankfully, Ajmal did not hear that or, pretended not to hear that. Now i condemn myself for not arguing with that a**h*** and slap him.

Just pointing out how we are, what kind of character we have. I know not everyone is like that, but a few bad apple stink up the whole basket. Just read all the other comments in this thread.

khub valo korsen apu..
I understand that people go to stadiums to have fun and because of our culture (or lack of education) galagali na korle onekei khela dekhe moja pay na.. Fair enough. But there has to be a limit. Throwing stones, Baap maa tule gali deaya..all these are so wrong and should be stopped.
But unfortunately we do lack basic common decorum. So I am not expecting much

My apologies to WI and their fans. We are not civilized. Please accept the truth. Hopefully in near future we would sober up and show some class.

needless to say how shameful this is.... abar WI er hotel e phul pathaite hoy naki ke jane....
its futile to compare the manners of our hoi-hoi crowd with the crowd in Aus/England/NZ etc.... but an interesting thing is they (Aus/NZ/Eng crowd) do 'boo' teams/players from time to time. The closest thing to boo-ing in bangla is probably 'bhua bhua' and unfortunately when we try to translate that for our guests on the field with our limited knowledge of english it comes out as stupid, f**k, s**k etc etc.
