Surprisingly, pitch gets totally flat on 5th day. Average score of 4th innings is higher than any other innings on this ground. So, don't think pitch will be a factor. Only thing matters is how our batters are going to approach as bowlers seem to be harmless.

If Kaedge baba refrains himself (which is VERY difficult) from playing khochas and Tamim stays on to make a century and take the opening partnership to at least 110 (who am I kidding O_o) then we can see a bright start and of course if Shakib/Mushty does not throw away their wickets...we'll be in a good position...
In other words, either one of the top 5 has to score a ton and the rest have to try to score 50s/60s in order to challenge the Windies....

ঢাকা: আগের দিন নেটে অনেক ঘাম ঝরালেন। দলের সভায়ও কোন সিদ্ধান্ত হয়নি। খেলার দিন সকাল পর্যন্ত তার জন্য অপেক্ষা করা হয়েছে। শেষপর্যন্ত তিনি খেলতে পারলেন না।

ডায়রিয়ায় আক্রান্ত হয়ে ক্লান্ত হয়ে পড়েন ইলিয়াস সানি। বাসার খাবরই তো খেয়েছিলেন। বিসিবির চিকিৎসক দেবাশিস চৌধুরী জানালেন, জাতীয় দলের এই ক্রিকেটার এতটাই দুর্বল ছিলেন যে খেলার মতো শারীরিক অবস্থা ফিরে পেতে সময় লাগবে।

পারিবারিক সমস্যা নিয়ে এমনিতেই মানসিক চাপে আছেন সানি। তারওপর খেলতে পারলেন না। যদিও গুঞ্জন আছে অনুমতি ছাড়া বাড়িতে যাওয়ায় কোচ স্টুয়ার্ট ল সানির ওপর ক্ষেপেছেন। সেজন্যই দ্বিতীয় টেস্ট থেকে তাকে বাদ দেওয়া হয়েছে। অধিনায়ক মুশফিকুর রহিমন বিষয়টি জানতেন। তবে তাকে বাদ দেওয়ার বিষয়ে কিছু বলতে রাজি হননি। কোন মন্তব্যও করেননি। অন্যদের মতো তিনিও সানিকে বাদ দেওয়ার পেছনে ডায়রিয়াকে সামনে নিয়ে এসেছেন।

যাকে নিয়ে এত আলোচনা সেই সানিও জানালেন ডায়রিয়াজনিত কারণেই তিনি খেলতে পারছেন না। অন্য কোন কারণ নেই।

কানাঘুষা আছে খেলার আগের দিন বাড়িতে যাওয়ায় শৃঙ্খলা ভঙ্গের অভিযোগ আনা হবে সানির বিরুদ্ধে। গুজব উড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন ক্রিকেট পরিচালনা বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যান এনায়েত হোসেন সিরাজ। তিনি বলেন,“সানি অনুমতি নিয়ে পরিবারের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গিয়েছিলো। সে খেলেনি ডায়রিয়ার কারণে। শৃঙ্খলা ভঙ্গের অভিযোগ আনার প্রশ্নই আসে না।”

বাঁহাতি অলরাউন্ডার সানির টেস্ট অভিষেক হয় চট্টগ্রামে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে। অভিষেকেই বাজিমাত করেন ইনিংসে ছয় উইকেট নিয়ে। প্রথম টেস্টের সর্বোচ্চ উইকেট শিকারিও তিনি।

ঢাকা: উইকেট নেওয়ার পর নাসির হোসেনের উদযাপনের ধরণটা অনেকের কাছেই দৃষ্টিকটু। দুই কব্জির ক্রস অ্যাকশনের মানে ভিন্ন হয়। কিছুটা খারাপ অর্থ প্রকাশ করে। যদিও নাসিরের ইঙ্গিতটা সেদিকে নয়। একান্তই নিজস্ব উচ্ছ্বাস প্রকাশের অবাচনিক ভাষা।

তারপরেও কথা থেকে যায়। কোন একদিন ছোট্ট বিয়টি বড় ইস্যু হয়ে যেতে পারে। আগে ভাগে সতর্ক হলে তো দোষ নেই। নাসির এটাকে বলছেন ‘তোমাকে কেটে দিলাম।’ তার উদযাপনের ভঙ্গি সতীর্থদের চোখেও লেগেছে। কেউ কেউ আপত্তিও তুলেছেন। পরবর্তীতে কব্জির ক্রস অ্যাকশন না করারই সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছেন নাসির। “আর করবো না। বৃহৎ স্বার্থে ছেড়ে দিলাম।”

আসলে বয়সে নাসির এতটাই তরুণ এসব নিয়ে তার ভাবার কথাও নয়। তারওপর শিবনারায়ন চন্দরপলের মতো ব্যাটসম্যানকে আউট করে দেওয়ার পর অন্যরকম উচ্ছ্বাস প্রকাশ করাটা খুবই স্বাভাবিক। প্রথম দিনের খেলা শেষে বাংলাদেশ দল যে স্বস্থির নিশ্বাস ফেলছে, তা ওই নাসিরের কারণেই। গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দুই ব্যাটসম্যানকে আউট করেছেন তিনি। উইকেট সম্পর্কে নাসিরের মতামত,“উইকেটে কিছুই ছিলো না। খুবই সেøা এবং লো উইকেট। বল টার্ন করাতেই পারছিলাম না। কয়েকটা ভালো ডেলিভারি দেওয়ায় উইকেট পেয়েছি।”

প্রত্যাশিত উইকেট না হওয়ায় বাংলাদেশ দলের খেলোয়াড়দের মধ্যে খুঁতখুতানি আছে। অধিনায়ক মুশফিকুর রহিম যেমন বললেন,“উইকেটে টার্ন থাকলে অনেক ভালো হতো। আমরা তো স্পিন নির্ভর দল। তবে যা হয়েছে তা নিয়েই আমাদেরকে সন্তুষ্ট থাকতে হবে। একেবারে ব্যাটিং উইকেট। আমরা আগে ব্যাটিং করলে ৩০০ রান করে ফেলতাম।”

খেলার নিয়ন্ত্রণ বাংলাদেশ দলের পক্ষে মনে করছেন জাতীয় দলের অধিনায়ক। তার দাবি,“রানরেট তিনের নিচে রাখা গেছে। পাঁচটি উইকেট ফেলে দিয়েছি। আমরা মনে হয় যেটুকু খেলা হয়ছে, তাতে ৬০ ভাগ আমাদের অর্জন। বাকিটা ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের।”

ইলিয়াস সানি থাকলে আরেকটু ভালো হতে পারতো বলে মনে করেন মুশফিকুর,“আগের টেস্টের সর্বোচ্চ উইকেট শিকারি সানি ভাই। উনি থাকলে ভালো হতো। ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ ভয়ে থাকতো। যখন টস করতে যাই তখন স্যামি আমার কাছে জানতে চেয়েছে সানি ভাই আছে কি না। তিনি না থাকায় ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের লাভ হয়েছে।”

ওয়ানডে ক্রিকেটের শীর্ষ অলরাউন্ডার সাকিব আগের মতো ঝলক দেখাতে পারছেন না। চট্টগ্রাম টেস্টে লেজের দিকের উইকেটগুলো পেয়েছেন তিনি। ঢাকা টেস্টে ২৩ ওভার বল করে ১০ টি মেডেন ও রান (৩১ রান) চেক দিলেও উইকেট মাত্র একটি।

ইলিয়াস সনি অসুস্থ হওয়ায় ভাগ্য খুলে যায় সোহরাওয়ার্দী শুভর। ওয়ার্ম আপের সময় তাকে একাদশে অন্তর্ভুক্ত করা হয়। টেস্টে অভিষেক হওয়ায় বেজায় খুশি,“খুবই ভালো লাগছে। আমাকে তো আগে কিছু বলা হয়নি তাই ভাবার সময়ও পাইনি। যখন জানলাম খেলবো তখন ভালো লেগেছে। উইকেট পাওয়ায় আরো ভালো লাগছে।”

অন্যদের যাই হোক সাহাদাত হোসেন নিজের বোলিং নিয়ে খুশি হতে পারছেন না। “খুব খারাপ বল করেছি। কেন যেন ভালো হচ্ছে না।”

I think if we could get a batsman rather than kemar Roach i would say its 50-50. They have still 4 batsmen and edward is set , samuels is a danger. Now they dont have a big tail, only Bishoo and Fidel is tail ender.

Only about 2-3 thousands people came to watch the game in the stadium and we are cricket crazy nation.l

No wonder why we are not improving in Test. Everyone wants to see 4s and 6s from every balls.
