Mahmudullah (not for this particular inning) reminds me of a certain Robin Singh in the Indian cricket team in the sense that Robin Singh would always show the steel and determination that would put his much more talented counterparts to shame.
This lad has been a revelation so far. I'll reserve my judgement on his technique until after the England series but so far, he has played like a champ.
On a side note, Sakib has been increasingly disappointing. I had far higher expectations from him.

Kudos to Riyad. The resolve that he showed under the circumstance is mostly unseen from the BD batsmen. The tail did a fabulous job sticking with him. The first seven left within 36 overs, The first five wickets left in a real hurry (12.4 overs) with Ash showcasing the problem with the top order. We truly lack the mental capacity and patience to fully utilize our "talent". By the way, the other four managed to make Ash look good one more time.
The bottom 3 partnerships lasted 38.1 overs, tellls you how much easier it was to bat on this track. All we needed was proper application and concentration. Unfortunately, we've had this problem since day one and it hurts to see that things haven't really changed much over the years. We could have easily pushed 400 in this pitch.

That is true! I was mentally prepared for a 350 score without cursing Indian bolwers.

For the haters, for every Shewag comment, you'll get two or three of these:
"Mahmudullah must be feeling Test cricket is not all that bad, and shared a couple of joyous anecdotes. "Harbhajan Singh came up and said 'well played'," he said. "Yuvraj Singh told me, 'Although you didn't get the hundred, you played really, really well. Congrats.' It was the happiest moment for me." And as he said that he flashed a lovely, toothy smile. It wasn't a shy man's smile, it was that of a young man who has got his first paycheque." Cricinfo aritcle linked above.
Just a gentle reminder to those who love to generalize.......
(p.s. BCCI is still fair game.)

If there is no overnight shocker and if the Indian batsmen can maintain their cool, i will be surprised if they score less then 450. There is really not much going on for the bowlers here.

I won't be surprised. Everyone says idiotic things (backed up by facts or opinion) from time to time.

I think he let rubel exposed at the wrong time. He needed to look for 2s or 4s at the first four deliveries and then a single at 5th or 6th delivery. The over rubel was bowled, he had to defend whole over from harbajan with fielders surrounding him, that is asking a bit too much from a tailender.

I really hope that Mr JS for once will use his head and send him at number 4 in second innings

he has the genuine height of a batsmen, therefore he has a better chance of negotiating bouncers than Mushfiqur Rahim(another candidate for our #3 crisis)...he should be the ideal #3 for now...
Test Cricket: depends on how #3 position guy plays, sets the tone for the innings total!
for 2nd innings the lineup should be:
Tamim
Imrul
Mahmudullah
Junaed
Rahim
Shakib
Rakibul(has problems against pace, so demote him!)
Ashraful(he plays like a #8 batsmen, then why not demote him there )
Shahadat
Shafiul
Rubel
Team management should realize that despite having EXCELLENT depth in our batting lineup we still manage a meagre 233 , there should be no harm then to shuffle our lineup, there must be something wrong with out lineup combination then?
simple formula: players mature enough to be in the top 5 slot should be promoted, players who are out of form and still playing this test should be demoted. it shouldn't take Stephen Hawkings to figure out who is recently failing in our top order batting and who should be promoted...

I loved his innings. Just loved it. If only he had got his 100. ..
But hats off to him. He's another great allrounder in the making.

Edit: Saudi capital I mean.

I don't think this is the best test inning ever played by a bangladesh. I would like it if someone compiles the top-10 innings (in no particular order), maybe in a separate thread, to see where this innings stand.

I don't think this is the best ever. Its one of the best.
Masharafe's innings (70+) which helped us avoiding the follow on and drawing the game against India was the best one ever. The partnership he made with Shahadat was one of the best ever.

If we were to compare this with Shakib's 100 vs. Pakistan in ODI, which one would rank higher? ;-)

Congrats Mahmudullah and keep going.
Also a plea to the selectors and team management. Please do not do something rash against this player if he has a few poor games. He has displayed that with support and more experience he can become a good test batsmen that we can all be proud of.

Mr. JS has been using his heads since his got here, it took some time to get the results but finally the results are starting to trickle in. Its because of him riyad, mushy, sakib, and tamim have found glitches in their batting and managed to fix some of them. Our management hasn't made his job any easier if you read one of the latest article on him in cricinfo you'll know how feels about our board. so this maybe one of those things that he didn't have much to say about. i don't know what kind of personal vendetta you have against Mr. JS but credits should be given where its due. and no ridiculous assumption (siddon doesn't like icl er) should be made without proper facts.

He is the most sensible player we currently have in the squad. I am pretty sure he will be the best player of our team for this year, even better than Shakib.
