BCB names big pool for England A


The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced a 33-member pool of players on Friday to play against England A team who will arrive on January 2.

The pool included atleast seven national players who were part of the Bangladesh squad that played in the recently concluded home series against Pakistan.

The players are vice-captain Mahmudullah, Naeem Islam, Nazmul Hossain, Elias Sunny, Farhad Reza, Imrul Kayes and Alok Kapali.

The pool was created apparently to form different squad for different matches so that it does not affect the player’s participation in the Dhaka Premier League.

England A team will play a five-match one-day series along with two Twenty20 matches against Bangladesh A from January 8-23.

The English side will start their tour with a practice match on January 6 in Chittagong where they will play three official one-day games on January 8, 10 and 13 respectively.

England will play the other two one-day matches at the Sylhet Divisional Stadium on January 16 and 18.

The two Twenty20 matches are scheduled to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on January 21 and 23.

Still dont uunderstand why there is no FC. Players are all crying out loud for more FC matches and BCB cant even arrange couple of 4 dayers? What will wake them up? What else are they waiting for?

This is shocking to see VC in the list.So this is clear VC have not cemented his position in the team.I think Shakib should be the VC.
Anyway 7 national team players?Quiet surprising but its not a bad idea to test the players like Nazmul,Riyad,Kayes,Nazimuddin,Naeem.Players who have not cemented his position in national team will have to appear in a test.Not a bad idea.We need to find some top order from here.

I am not a fan of playing national team players in the A team. A team should be for upcoming players who don't get to face quality opposition regularly.

Mithun should be picked as an opener. His keeping is worse than Mushy's. Anamul too should be groomed as a top-order batsman. Dhiman is the only International standard wicket-keeper in the country.

I'm against the idea to have different squads for different matches just to accommodate the DPL. How will a player learn from just one or two matches, they need to play as many games as possible. The real reason that there were no first class games scheduled in this tour was probably because selected players would have to miss DPL games. No wonder our players suck so much at Tests when our cricket is prioritised this way.

yes good lineup but Hom is terribly out of form these days. I just wish NCL first class league wasn't canceled just so that he can get his confidence back by performing there...oh well not to be!


This is an exciting tour for me to see who shines and who learns and develops their game to the next level! yes, I am looking for "individual improvement" on this tour. care less about the result(although, wins would be nice) hoping for some solid performances...

I would even say he will proove better than mashud. His energy behind the stumps is top class. WE REALLY need him in tests.
