Chacha should do a favour to us by retiring.

If you drop him in the preliminary selection, he won't get the messege. He'll probably as usual go on a hunger strike of some sort and cry his way back. Freakin' politics has kept him where he's been for this long.

Well, according to Prothom-Alo, Bashar doesn't want ChaCha to retire at this point. He believes the presence of Sujon in the squad keeps the moral of the team high. So, I guess, it is upto selectors to select him for next tour or not.

ya right, he was planning to retire next october but it is Basher who requested to re-think his decision. He said Chacha has always been a huge moral boost for the team...
well i guess in that case, we can take him as a "moral booster specialist"...not as a player or something..

From today's DS
Quote:
"When you are coming home with a victory against a team like Australia everything feels good. I am not the right man to comment on the Test series because I was not there but I must say we have played a memorable one-day series and created an impression in world cricket," said the veteran all-rounder who added that his goal was to play in the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies.
By that time, you will become an off-spinner Chacha!!

BCB is planning to send one big 18 members tour party for both ODI and Test series. Also, the management don't want to make any change to the team now. So, I guess they are leaving a spot for Sujon in the national team.

I was one of the biggest criticisers of Sujon, but recently looking at the comments he made, his outlook of the game, his vision and temperament- i find that he's really important to the team even as a moral support.
He's valuable in the team when it comes to away matches, although he's past his prime. But i think he should continue for another year until young players like Shahriar Nafees and Aftab Ahmed grounds their feet in their team permanently and securely.

You can make him the team manager and acheive the same... why let him take a valuable spot replacing Rana or others and costing us a game.

Picking rana in the side will *not* win us every game, but he is a bright future prospect and frankly speaking it is hard to perform worse than Chacha already does. So why play an oldie instead of Rana? The more matches Rana (or any player of his age+calibre) gets to play, the better it is for the future of our cricket.

Good riddance, I'd say.

I agree! I play in 5th grade club in Australia the bowlers are quicker than him. We have so many more talented cricketers in Bangladesh. When people look at Mahmud they laugh. When Mahmud was relieved of captaincy he said that during training sessions other players would laugh at him and sometimes he would hear taunts. Once he leaves we will have room for another solid bowler to develop. Too often I have seen good opening spells from our bowlers and then I have seen cha cha come on 1st change and get belted. Did you see the look on Damien Martyns face when he got out to cha cha in the last game? He was laughing, he was embarrassed! Its fair enough to keep this guy in the team if Bangladesh has no other better players but the fact is Bangladesh should drop him! He is slower than slow medium! We need to develop one of the many medium fast bowlers around the country.

well as long as he takes wickets it doesnt matter if he is bowling 90 mph or 40 mph. what matters is him taking wickets and getting runs.

Dude....This is nuthing too much...on Martyn laughing over there.....

There are many ppl from other countires who just mock at him whn he comes to bowl...there actually indirectly mocking at Bangladesh Cricket.

Once Geoffry Boycott was criticizing Chacha whn he was the captain by saying wht kinda captain is that. He bowls like a part time bowler and bats in a lower order. Though he dint exactly say like how i am saying but he did say harsh things bout Chacha. And this thing even one of Indian pal said me. Many ppl from other countires laugh a lot whn he comes to bowl and if i happen to be there they would surely raise the question - dont u have anyother guys in ur country to bowl...

We all knowe how Indians & Pakis sometimes are whn the speak against our cricket.....

Guys, I remeber watching that match vs Pak in Asia cup which was after we beat them in 1999WC. Chacha was too much. I gave him bad words like many did. He brok my heart by giving 81runs and as usual the Pakis say wht happen to that Mahmud...and so many vulgar words...

There are many instances where its simply frustrating seeing him except for few matches he played good.

Test - once he was regarded as the worst bowler...and that was an insult coz he was our captain and so did many raise a question how the hell is a captain? in regard to his performance...

Maan.. Chacha is just an insult to our cricket. Though i dont like to say that but thatz the fact...

I forget to mention..one thing..didnt ya see how Mivhel Vaughn seemed whn Chacha gave that gr888888888 bouncer in the 1st match vs England Natwesr series....2005

Michel vaughan actually was indicating..wht this? how silly can u be...indirectly it means an insult to Bangladesh cricket....

Everyone is making funny comments and enjoying. But please try to think it was chacha who played key roles in 1999 victory against Pakistan, last year''s victory against India and did a great job in nail biting test match against Pakistan.

He does not deserve such irritating comments from you guys.

Please be patient as a true Bangladeshi supporter. I think he will retire soon. Appreciate his contribution. Do we have any slow meduim/medium pace allrounder to take his place? Aftab may need a year more to establish himself as a bowler in one-dayers. Mushfique is even worse than him in recent times. We need him till Aftab or someone else becomes dependable as one-day medium pace (slow medium) allrounder.

Calm down dear supporters! He won't let us down (I hope ...................) and relieve you, may be within a year.

Cheers!
