Default it's nayeem vs jahurul

he will get his chance if only nayeem fails. i am BIG fan of nayeem. he seems to have that big match temperament. his only innings in NCL this season was of 123n.o.

if things go right for him, then he could be our new Mahmudullah. but, he must improve on his bowling

Nayeem is really a middle order batsman. It's pathetic how they make him bat at #8 and leave him out of the Test XI. I kind of get the feeling that if they let him bat in the middle order in Tests, he will have a pretty long and successful career. In Tamim, Mushy, Nayeem, Riyad and Shakib we might find the right combination that will make us a decent batting side in the longer version. I'm hoping for Imrul to come good too.

The promotion of Mushy to #4 in ODIs tells me that the management is finally getting it. Hopefully they'll get the line-up right soon enough.

^^ Naeem deserves to bat in the middle order.
It's his great opportunity to prove. I'm very much looking forward for that.

Now we need a good-enough opener (imrul keeps on disappointing us) and a replacement of Aftab (Raquibul would've been a fantastic option).

Junaid might continue for a few more games.
and we must conclude that Razzak doesn't deserve to be in the test team. Enamul is stll far better than him

Omi (Jahurul), Shubhagoto, Rumman (Sabbir) and SR Shubho are all stylish batsmen and excellent prospects. Sadly the all have the tendency to brainfart like every other stylish Bangladeshi batsman in history. Given the gap between our domestic cricket and the highest level, these guys will have a better chance of sustaining success at the highest level through extensive A Team, NOT Academy/U19/U23, exposure. There is no other way to set them up for success and avoid the sort of revolving door, jodi-laigga-jay goading in our selectors have been doing since day one with virtually ZERO progress as a team.

How can we possibly develop team cohesion if these guys don't stay together, learn on the job and grow into international cricketers from the typical age of 27?

That being said, what do you do when guys like Imroze (Zunaed) fails to rectify his shoddy front foot technique and grip for 3 years, and Imrul is likely to fail more often than he's likely to succeed at this stage in his career?

Will these new guys do any better with greater consistency? I certainly hope so, but given the discrepancy between our domestic and the highest level of International cricket, my money won't be on them.

that's why, i wanted to see Jahurul against England in the 'A' team. he scored a 50 and a 100 for his team in the final, but it would've benefitted him (and us) more even if he could score a few runs against this england attack.

But this guy has played some cricket with good success in domestic cricket and players like imrul/junaid/aftab have been failing too regularly.

Thus, we are left with little option left than to try him or the likes of him (Farhad/Shamsur/Shuvagoto)

imrul has played well enough to gift jahurul a 'test cap'.

I want to see Jahurul in the 2nd Test instead of Aftab. I don't know what Aftab was doing there in the first place.

the way imrul has been batting, it is hard to trust him even for a few deliveries
aftab, at least, can survive a few nasty ones. in fact, it is spin that has been his major weakness. but, not in my wildest dreams, i would predict him a long-time solution @no.4.

thus, until someone else steps up, we might continue with him.

on the other hand, jahurul scored majority of his runs as an opener. getting him in as an opener would be a far better idea.

This is good that others are performing but let them perform in the domestic for a long time. Their time will come. Ask Hussey.

Junaid is performing much better than Jahurul at DPL. I don't see why Jahirul should be given a chance.
