That might just have been the iceberg in the Titanic. Can Ireland do a Kate or will they sink like Leo?

Could somebody please upload highlights of the France v Ireland game, atleast the part when Henry hand balled it..
I was hoping for France to qualify but after hearing of this Henry hand ball and the negativity targeted towards him, I feel very sorry for the Irish..

Why didn't the refs just disallow the goal? It was so obvious.

Sorry bro, but Slovakia is not part of the Balkan. Its the other half of the former Czeckslovakia. Bosnia was close. We got a few bum teams from Europe this time, with Greece being the biggest of the bums ( they had an easy group ), followed by Slovenia, Slovakia and Greece. Missing out - Sweden, Turkey, Russia ( big surprise ), Ukraine. I wish one other team from Great Britain made it. No complains from Africa. All the powers are in. Ditto, S America.

French revolution.
Quote:
Three years ago, France may have lost the World Cup because of a head. Wednesday, the French national team qualified for the 2010 World Cup because of a hand.
The late William Gallas goal, which gave France a 2-1 aggregate victory in its two-game playoff with Ireland, came off a blatant handball by star Thierry Henry. With the Irish fighting to clear the ball deep on their side, Henry batted the ball down with his left hand, darted a quick pass to Gallas, who then headed the ball in for the decisive goal.
The handball instantly drew comparisons to Diego Maradona's infamous "Hand of God" goal in the 1986 World Cup quarterfinals, but so does every uncalled handball which turns into a score. That goal put Argentina in the semifinal of the tournament, this one merely put France in the 32-team field.
Referee Martin Hansson dismissed the immediate pleas from the Irish side, some of which may also have been about the possible offsides violation that came before the handball. The missed call delighted Parisians, but was a devastating blow to Irish soccer fans who were hoping to see their team qualify for just the fourth World Cup in national history. Had Henry not scored, the playoff would have been decided by penalty kicks.

I am a Brazil fan even though I have a soft heart for the French, partly due to Platini, Zidane, Tigana. But, with this coach Domenech, France has no chance. They need to remove him ASAP.

Thanks for the team names Nasimul bhai, was looking for sth like that but was too lazy to google it.
But I was watching some of the highlights and goals of the Egypt-Algeria encounters. Really football CAN be larger than life in so many places around the world (the coach/crowd/player emotions after each goal etc). In the midst of all the violence and hatred, respect for football goes up one notch....

im soo happy to see Uruguay qualify.. would love to see Forlan doing something at his last WC considering he is in tremendous form with Atletico..
they should really get another team from South America rather than honduras from carribean.. they wont do crap while teams like Ecuador didnt qualify even though they deserve to..
from Asia, looking forward for a surprise from either South Korea with Park and Seol or Australia with Cahill.. too bad for China they couldnt qualify.. japan wont be able to do much..
GO Germany (my favs), Holland has an excellent chance with Vaart, Sneijder, Robben etc. Italy has no chance of retaining the title, all their players are too old now.. Spain to me seems to be the strongest side on paper..
Brazil/Argentina is too hyped.. they wont be able to reach the finals, neither of them..
hoping for a great world cup cant wait

South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup
Who's saying what
Afp, Paris
Who's saying what about Thierry Henry's handball, which helped send France to the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa at the expense of the Republic of Ireland.
"Yes, there was a hand, but I'm not the referee. Of course, I kept playing. The referee didn't whistle for handball. I was behind two Irish players, the ball bounced and it hit my hand."
- Henry on the controversial moment at the Stade de France on Wednesday, in which he handled the ball before setting up William Gallas for the winning goal
"You could see the referee hesitate and look at Henry. He could have asked him what he thought. If the referee had asked Henry, he would have said: 'Yes, it was handball'."
- Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni
"He (Henry) told us we deserved to win. How is that supposed to make me feel? It makes me feel worse. He's admitted he cheated. We should have won. He just said, 'That's it'. He just said he handled it, he didn't mean it."
- Ireland defender Richard Dunne
"We got robbed, you can tell by the boys' reaction, it hit his hand blatantly. We feel cheated - we were the better team over the two legs, every fan in the stadium will say we were the better team tonight."
- Ireland defender Sean St Ledger
"This isn't just a league match, it wasn't just a game of 36 matches over a season. This was a defining game that the whole world was watching. If FIFA believe in fair play and integrity... this is their opportunity to step forward. Thierry Henry's a wonderful footballer, but does he want to remembered like Maradona was in 1986, does he want his legacy to be this handball?"
- Football Association of Ireland chief executive John Delaney
"Neither the French government nor the Irish government should interfere in the functioning of the international federation."
- French PM Francois Fillon
"Football is the real loser. It's a victory without glory for France."
- Former Ireland coach Mick McCarthy
"We were robbed."
- Irish Star newspaper
"Le Cheat"
- Irish Mirror
"Hand of the Frog"
- Irish Sun
"The hand of God"
- French sport daily L'Equipe
"The worst refereeing mistake in 20 years - Martin Hansson robbed Ireland of a place in the World Cup."
- Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet

Any WorldCup outside of Europe is for Brazil or Argentina. So my bet on Brazil.
In this world cup my favourites teams are Argentina and Spain.
Spain deserves a WC.

If there is one team i hate in world football, its France.
Now i've got more reason to hate those cheaters.
BB bhai, gearing up for another exciting world cup??
Of the 4.5 years i've bn in BC, world cup 2006 was the most exciting period to be here.
Cant believe the next one is just around the corner!
