Imran Tahir to Clarke, 1 run, there it is, the first batsman to score a fourth 200-plus score in a year! Clarke goes back in his crease and nudges the ball behind square to get there. He moves past Bradman and Ponting, who have three 200-plus scores in a year. 16,000+ people give him a standing ovation

Australia annihilated and crushed the South Africans on Day 1 in the most brutal way imaginable.
Surely Clarke can challenge Lara's 400 and he should go for it!

Hot damn! Almsot 500 runs in Day 1, and SA didn't even finish all the overs! I kept going why aren't they declaring yet, why aren't they declaring yet. And then I realized it was day 1!
Totally killed BDesh's record from last night. Most amount of runs on day 1, ever.

Actually, the highest number of runs scored in a day does involve us.
At the receiving end.
SL scored 509 against us in a day in 2002.

I'm talking about Day One. Yesterday we broke the record of highest amount of runs scored in Day One. AUS beat it today.

Dilu, we broke our own record, not world.
And that 502, if I'm not mistaken, was also on day 1. Several SL batsmen retired after scoring century ...

Players like MC make us love cricket. Guys like Nazza!, Rocky and dozens of others make us feel other things.

Clarke ki manush?
224 pom 243 balls :whtda?:
Typical WArner innings.
Aus 482 at a rr of 5.55
Why were they playing ODI ? is the wicket so good, or Steyn Mokkel were bowling like SRK & Shophiul. :S
and that pic of Sir RIcky, he better retire.
I was so wrong when I thought Steyn & Mokkel will dominate.

Wonder if Ponting will be able to make a comeback in the second inning. Lately, his form has been appalling. Any suitable replacements come to mind?

I think they're both in contention for the #3 spot. I'm sure they could bat at #4 if they need to. Hughes could be another guy who could bat there, even though he's more of an opener. I think it's time Ponting goes as well but maybe the selectors feel the younger guys are not quite ready yet

Clark is a typical test batsman but why did he score those runs so quickly ?
I say he was inspired by Raju. ;-)

Khawaja doesn't seem ready yet, Marsh is a better option, but Ponting's shoes might be too big for him at this time.

Clarke Raju ke dekhe double century maarey, aar amader batsmanra Rajuke dekhe double dabba maarey.
I'm dreading the time when one of our idiots at the top of the order will come back to the dressing room after a glorious golden duck and say, "Raju jokhon bat korchilo tokhon to wicket e spin chilo na, o to flat wicket e century koreche"...arey Mokhles, flat wicket e tui ki korsos amra ki dekhi nai? Seriously, when that happens, the coach should go ballistic on his a**. But what can you expect when the coach is the biggest sissy in the team?

Khawaja seems to be the better long term player. They should've tried him out at #3 rather than giving Quiney a go. I'm sure the selectors will assess the situation after the series is over. Their selectors are not like ours. They have a pretty clear plan of what to do.

I'm sure the Australian selectors are in a dilemma with Ponting.
Because prior to the series, his previous 6 innings FC scores for Tasmania are 5, 162*, 60*, 85*, 9, 34.

Amazing innings from Clarke and amazing run he's on. He could actually break Lara's World Record tomorrow.

I doubt Clarke will go after Lara's record: He'll probably declare before that.

By the way Tahir has been bowling pie after pie for a long time. Why don't they bring in Robin Peterson? He's a much more reliable option than Tahir is. I know a leg spinner can produce something other spinners can't but what's the point when he bowls so poorly?

^ Tahir is the Abul of South Africa. Bowling-wise, of course. Because when it comes to batting, Abul > Bradman.
