And that 502, if I'm not mistaken, was also on day 1. Several SL batsmen retired after scoring century ...

Usman Khwaja and Shaun Marsh comes to mind but don't know if they are in contention.

I think they're both in contention for the #3 spot. I'm sure they could bat at #4 if they need to. Hughes could be another guy who could bat there, even though he's more of an opener. I think it's time Ponting goes as well but maybe the selectors feel the younger guys are not quite ready yet

I'm dreading the time when one of our idiots at the top of the order will come back to the dressing room after a glorious golden duck and say, "Raju jokhon bat korchilo tokhon to wicket e spin chilo na, o to flat wicket e century koreche"...arey Mokhles, flat wicket e tui ki korsos amra ki dekhi nai? Seriously, when that happens, the coach should go ballistic on his a**. But what can you expect when the coach is the biggest sissy in the team?

Khawaja seems to be the better long term player. They should've tried him out at #3 rather than giving Quiney a go. I'm sure the selectors will assess the situation after the series is over. Their selectors are not like ours. They have a pretty clear plan of what to do.

Because prior to the series, his previous 6 innings FC scores for Tasmania are 5, 162*, 60*, 85*, 9, 34.

By the way Tahir has been bowling pie after pie for a long time. Why don't they bring in Robin Peterson? He's a much more reliable option than Tahir is. I know a leg spinner can produce something other spinners can't but what's the point when he bowls so poorly?
