Soon cricket will have the same fate as soccer did in our country. Thanks to the cricket board and the players.

In BD nobody gets dropped because its too insulting for the cricketers as they contribute so much for their land. So, a Kaedge goes down with exotic skin reaction a Rubel with Rubelities and a Tamim...well he is beyond reproach.

So Rubel's out and Robiul's in. We got 3 pacers in on a pace friendly track but still aren't threatening. That's what I was saying last match. It's not just Rubel. Our pacers are just not Test standard. They never were and they never will unless we have pitches that assist them back at home. Also having pace academies is a must. Otherwise we'll continue to have pacers that will fail at the Test level.

Well the batsmen aren't going after anything.... 60 runs a session... Sure go ahead. Score will be 200 or even 220 end of day. Will need to bat a full 2 days to score 450.

Its more about tradition, genetics, fitness, attitude, lifetyle than pitches IMO. Of course we need sporting wickets and it will help but the talent needs to be there. Very few of our players have the build. Shafiul is famished as is Al Amin. Shafiul was clocking almost touching 90 mph early on...at his physique he cant sustain it. Only Rubel has the build but he has no skill and half of few wicket taking balls he has he ruins by overstepping. Robiul doesn't have the build but he's strong as ox at least. How many pace Academies does Pakistan have? Do they have green tops? They produced pacers because they had that fire in their bellies. India has academies but only a handful of genuine quicks and even fewer with genuine skills.
Sporting wickets will help our batsmen. Hopefully Streak can instill discipline in our seamers. Unfortunately for Rubel, Shafiul, etc, fast bowling is just a job. Taskin takes things far more seriously as you can see he's gone to the gym and put on at least 10-15 lbs of muscle since BPL 13. He also has fire in his tummy.
For now, I'll be happy if our seamers can just cut the runs down like ZIM does so well.

A sad reflection of the lack of depth in opening batsmen in the Caribbean....
I hope this is not an experiment that is persisted with, or he could get seriously exposed in South Africa.

Good post. You summed it well. It's a lot of factors that come in to play. All our pacers could be better than they are but they need to know how to bowl within their limitations which they don't know unfortunately
And I'll wait on Taskin. Seems like he's got heart and working on his build but his knee injuries are worrying me. No point of building all that muscle and then your joints are falling apart.

I'm not picking on you but you tend to have a lot of flawed arguments. Genetics? You saying Bangladeshis are not strong enough to bowl 135 kph regularly? One doesn't have to bowl at 150 kph regularly to be a successful pacer at the higest level. 135kph is actually fast enough. At what pace Mcgrath, Pollock, Vaas or a Gilisspie used to bowl? Were they successful? Did they have impeccable control over their line and length and were able to out think the batsmen? Could they swing a new bowl? And Rubel does not have the built! He is actually quite tiny by fast bowling standards. Goes to show that one doesn't have to be a hulk to bowl "fast".
Pakistan in their glory days did have greentops...at least, for Test matches. And, comparing BD to Pak or Aus isn't fair, either. They have been playing Test cricket for almost 100 years and have a cricket culture in place. We are not there yet. And, with our inherent learning dificulties it might take another decade or two to create such culture.
