He usually survives because he just kills the domestic competition once the international series is over and despite doing poorly in the international series, he comes back because of his domestic form.

Yup. Ash is a way different case though. He's just proved that mentally he play int cricket, despite having superb hand eye coordination Rock on the other hand has good enough technique to survive domestics but in int cricket his technique gets exposed and since he doesn't have good hand eye coordination, he has to rely on his technique to score runs but that's not gonna happen with so many deficiencies.
