How is his technique? Mushfiq-esque or more like Zunaid S, Naeem type?
If he is a solid batsmen then looks like we are going with 9 batsmen. I want 400+ score

according to weather.com, no rain at the moment and only slight chance of rain (30%) tonight. increases a bit to 40% tomorrow. so hopefully we get a full day's play on day 1

Since Simmons has been summoned into the squad to replace Barath, this would be my XI....
1) Lendl Simmons
2) Kieran Powell/Kraigg Brathwaite
3) Kirk Edwards
4) Darren Bravo
5) Shiv Chanderpaul
6) Marlon Samuels
7) Denesh Ramdin/Carlton Baugh
8) Darren Sammy
9) Ravi Rampaul
10) Dev Bishoo
11) Fidel Edwards/Kemar Roach/Shane Shillingford (depending on the pitch)

so do we bowl or bat if we win the toss?
given our history of letting teams run away with the game in the 1st innings I would like to think batting is the better option but the last ODI has proven there might be something for the bowlers on day 1 as well....

I foresee a low-scoring thriller. I think there is a good chance of us coming out on top. None of there batsmen barring Chanderpaul should be able to handle the pitch if it behaves the way it did in the 3rd ODI.

thats terrible that a captian like Sammy means you have to choose between Fidel and Roach. Both should play every game, IMO.

Important Game for too many players in the team.
Tamim: His back is in the wall for last few series. And people started questining his off-field activities. One good innings, and he will be the fan darling again.
Imrul: He need one good innings to shut down the fans who questions his inclusion in the TEST. And two bad innings, will make him a prime suspect for dropping him from 2nd TEST.
SN (if he plays): He is in the bubble and next in line liek Ash, Alok and Razzak. This may be it. A good innings will buy hime few more lives, coupleof bad innings will make sure that he is out for a long time.
Hom (if he plays): Opportunity doen;t come that often to new players, so if he can use one, that will make sure he is included in the next TEST and beyond. If he fails, who knows if he will selected again or not.
Rahim: First time TEST captain ... only comes one in a lifetime. If he produce, he will be remembered for a long long time.
Nasir: Opportunity to play TEST doen;t come so easily. A good game will make sure he is still in the team even when Riyad comes back.
Naeem: Some people are not happy with his inclusion. And things will be harder when Riyad and (at sometime later) Ashraul comes back. This is a do or die opportunity for Naeem. Either show up or vanish.
Rakibul: You are a marked man. Don;t forget who you replaced. People are already rasining question if he is any better than Ashraful? So show up with some, runs, otherwise you will be dropped in the 2nd TEST by the 12th man (SN/Hom, whoever will not be in the 1st TEST.
Sunny: Too much competetion in this slot, Plus its a matter of time before Razzak will be knocking the door. He need to show something positive... something to hope for future....otherwise this series will be one night stand for him.
Sakib: He in to produce not for his slot, but rather to keep his reputation high. If he fails, naughty poeple will claim he did this intentionally.
Shahadat: He is lucky that he is selected again. So either use this opportunity to revive your career or, you need to buy a ticket to Bollywood for audition for extra.
Rubel: When Safiul comes back, you will notbe an automatic choice. So show what you have now, beacuse there may not be tomorrow.
Nazmul (if selected): It will be an opportunity of a lifetime beacuse of biasness against you. So show the world what they have been missing. If you fail, it will be amountain to climb, before you get anotehr chance.

Even though Raquibul is included, I like the lineup. this is a good lineup
I am ok with Nazmul not being included as much as i like him.
I am excited to see Nasir and Sunny have a go. let's see. Shuvo's exclusion should only motivate him to do better.
good to see Nafees given another try. if he plays within his comfort zone, he should be fine.
so the lineup will most likely be:
1. Tamim
2. Kayes
3. Rokibul
4. Nafees
5. Naeem
6. Shakib
7. Rahim(c)(wk)
8. Nasir
9. Sunny
10. Shahadat
11. Rubel
although my preferred lineup:
1. Tamim
2. Imrul
3. Naeem
4. Nafees
5. Rahim
6. Rokibul
7. Shakib
8. Nasir
9. Sunny
10. Shahadat
11. Rubel
I am very unsure if we should bat first or bowl first. a lot of factors to consider:
1. IF the test does indeed drag onto day 5, w=how will the pitch behave then? will it be easier to bat?
possible scenarios i can think of: West Indies bats first...and to everyone's surprise, they post a mammoth total. this will definitely put us on the backfoot and the game is pretty much lost. but then if we bat first what are the chances that we will put up a total close to or above 300?
I think we should bowl first...but this implies that if the game does indeed go to day 5 and the pitch is very difficult to bat on, we will be in deep trouble.
I really do not know, which risk is worth taking.
on a positive note: ALhamdulillah! Great deep batting lineup for Bangladesh, but this is just on paper/theory,, which is useless without actual application.
ok. if it is sunny, bright, we should bat first, if it is overcast, damp conditions, we should bowl first. Opening wickets are KEY to success for both sides.

Hoping tamim gets to a good start or else we may end up losing the top order very early, as much as i want the rest to do well i cant help but be extremely nervous knowing how uncomfortable they are against pace.

I am afraid it will be a low scoring affair. But I think thats a good thing for us.
It is a very tough decision whether to bat or bowl first.
I just hope we win the toss, the weather is good and we put up around 300.

The probabale batting line up looks okay (accroding to cricinfo 11), not sure if we could get any better than this. Ash and Nafees are pretty much same, but Nafees should take this chance with both hands.
