funny how patriotism blinds us from the reality. We have fans placing bets that bangladesh is going to the finals. I do not see how we can skyrocket from this performance to turn into a team that can challenge a team like India.

Where is the competitive nature in our players? this is a disappointing display of bangladesh in every department bowling, fielding and batting. I thought our playing attitude has improved in the later part of 2010. the team and media has been selling the team to the fans like real estate agents selling property in the US before the housing bust. Unfortunately there is no bailout for us.

It shows despite all talk taht we do not have the batting depth. Pakistan were in a hole too but they had the batting resources to dig themselves out. I always had a thing about Mahmudullah and ODI's. He takes far too long even to take singles ! I do not want gung-ho batting at any time. We are too weak for that.

Anyway my team for Saturday:

Tamim
Imrul
Junaid
Mushfiq
Raqibul
Shakib
Naeem
Shuvo/Mahmudullah
Razzak
Rubel
Shafi

But I know they will take Ashraful for the first two matches and then he will be discarded until the next series! If he scores a 50, then Allah help us.

They will also take Mahmudullah though I would prefer Shuvo.

Well ... there are few areas the team needs to improve:
- Fielding ... no more miss on Catches
- Bowling was fine, bothe from pacers are spinners, IMHO
- Tamim and Shakib need to score big
- Need to fix the middle orders ... can't afford to play like Test matches on ODIs
- Ash out ... Roq in
- If only we could get Mash as the Tail Ender ... but that's not happening

Well said. Lets not put too much hope on the game against India, and get disappointed. The Indian team looks pretty strong.

You bring up a very valid point. Perhaps this deserves a thread of its own. Why keep Nafees in the team when you won't let him bat even if he was allowed to!!

I am sick of Siddons one man show!!! I dream of a day when all the decision of the matches wont come from one person.
that's really sad to hear/read man

you'd expect siddons to be more professional with what he does. there's a reason why the wc allows fifteen players per squad. the best sides use every player at some point of their world cup campaign.

what's worrying isn't that nafees won't get a game. it's the approach that siddons is employing - stick your five best players in to the most important positions, slot in a few bits and pieces players where you can afford to, and ignore the rest of the trash.

this is not how a team functions. this is how a team CAN'T function.

I have to face all the indians at work. at least shommanjonok porajoi will be highly appreciated against india. keep the loss within 25 runs or 3 wickets and do not get all out before 49 overs. and we all can call the match against india "mission accomplished".

take a bat to work. if the indians get under your skin, skip down the pitch like tamim.

clearly, by observing and listening to Ian and Julian here... he is behind everything.

Calm down.
Point is Bangladesh fail to handle cunny Abdul Razzak. I think our coach needs to review where their weaknesses.

I don't see why they didn't let Shuvo bowl for 10 overs or let him bat instead of Rubel at the end. What's going on? They should have tried Nafees as well.

I have a feeling that those guys were not even bothering to win the match. Ryad and Naeem's batting proved it. Even ROCK comming at 7down had almost 100 strikerate.

Off topic ... I think Ireland will be more of a threat then WI. Look at how well they are doing in the sub continent.

siddons better put something decent together during the wc, after treating these warm ups with such disdain.

or else.. effigies will be burned.

Actually Siddons knows the reality of our team very well, he hardly has any option to work with, this is the playing XII for Bangladesh with "majhe majhe laiga jai", rest of the players are "jodi laiga jai" type. What happened to Aftab Ahmed and Rajin Saleh are they in the "one hit wonder" group?

We are not talking about rest of the group. We are just stunned by Nafees being in the team and not allowed to bat despite 15 players a side game.

Ireland beat Zimbabwe and Netherlands beat Kenya.

Instead of the India match, we should only concentrate on winning against Ireland and Netherlands.

Going to the Quarterfinals is a bit too much to think at the moment.

Agreed. Like I told him in his thread, as a professional, you should be able to "ignore" those morons.
