No one's trying to belittle the achievement. I was just saying resorting to D/L as an excuse would be nothing but sad for a team. It was Bangladesh who played with 4 bowlers, without their #1 batsman and took advantage of the conditions. One team outplayed another, and resorting to D/L to find the cause of the defeat shant be done.

Oh another thing about what the Aussies/Kiwis/British complain about; the pitch.
It is our god**** home ground, we will put in holes in the pitch if that suits us. If we go to WACA and get destroyed by the pace and bounce and then complain about it, we will be tagged as whiners. But when an Aussie complains about Indian pitches being too slow/low, everyone asks for more sporty pitches.
A home team will make the pitch whatever way it suits them.

9.40am Still raining at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, so there will not be any inspection until the rain ceases. Frustrating for all concerned, particularly the New Zealanders. Coach Mark Greatbatch was seen talking to the groundstaff. Athar Ali Khan on air says the drainage system is good, so fingers crossed for enough time to at least get a 20-over game in.

Nicely encapsulated. Due to D-L no one really complains as much about rain-impacts other than when a clearly superior team has to split points because the game got washed out.
As al Furqaan said, the basic premise of DL is that the total runs scored by a team is a function of two resources - this function is derived statistically. The two resources are the "number of overs to recieve" and the "number of wickets at hand". At any point in time, a team's ability to score depends on a combination of these two resources and the DL charts map this correspondence. Given the states of the two teams at the time of the interruption, the charts allow one to calculate the runs needed to score to achieve parity now that the resource of over's available has been reduced for the second team.
At times the D/L method can come up with counter-intuitive results and like all statistical models, they need to be updated over time. There are some criticisms to the underlying formula - wickets are given a much higher weight than overs and that the batting and fielding restrictions do not play into the equations.

9.55am Our man at the ground Sohel Awrangzeb confirms the quality of the drainage system but unfortunately cannot see any sign of the rain relenting any time soon. Not looking flash folks, I'm afraid.

Better abandon the match than play a T20. Kiwis are gonna pile up runs and Jokers like Riyadh are gonna take forever to get a not out.

i don't see why they can't make a reserve day since there are 3 days between every match.
and ODIs should never be less than 30 overs per side.
