National team height thread

I'm a very good estimator of gauging height simply by eyeballing. Having seen a good number of our boys up close in the Caribbean in 2009 I can give the most accurate guesses as to how tall our team is. The reason for this thread is because Wikipedia/google give many inaccurate figures such as Shahadat being 6'5", etc. So here is my correct height list:

Shahadat - 6'3"
Al Amin - 6'2"
Taskin - 6'2"
Mashrafee - 6'1"
Mahmudullah - 6'0"
Razzak - 5'11"
Gazi - 5'10"
Tamim - 5'10"
Rubel - 5'9"
Shakib - 5'9"
Shafiul - 5'9"
Nasir - 5'8"
Anamul - 5'7"
Mushfiq - 5'3"
Mominul - 5'3"

The average height of those above players is over 5'10", which is surprisingly tall but the unknown players like Imrul, Shamsur, etc will bring that average closer to 5'8" which seems more reasonable.

Junaid is also 6'2" and Ash and Aftab were 5'4". The rest of the players I don't know about.

Anyone know how tall Naimur Rahman Durjoy is? He def looks shorter than Mushy and Momin. Shahadat looks to be our tallest ever player. I think Athar is also around 6'2". I think Mushy, Momin, and Adnan Akmal are the shortest players in Intl cricket currently.

Who are the 6 ft+ players to have played for Bangladesh to date? Mashrafe, Al-Amin, Taskin, Shahadat, Zia, Zunaed, Akram Khan, Athar, Jahirul(?). Am I missing anyone? I don't think Riyad is 6ft. More like 5'11".

^random pics are misleading. Riyad and razzak are almost as tall as Mashrafe who is 6-1. Also, I've seen riyad and Tamim up close. Tamim is 5-10 and riyad is slightly taller.

it is al furqans eyeballing height there is no objectivity to it .... and players height should not be a matter of guesses it should be published with their profile... but since we are bangalis... the best we will get is eyeballing height.... and innacurate figures

al_f, I met Jahirul a few months back at a random academic event. (From what I understood, one of his University professors brought him) I'm 5' 9 or a bit more and he wasn't that much taller than me. He was certainly shorter than my Father, who was also there, and is exactly 6' 0.

what is common about our players is the skin color, all dark brown to a few deep brown, except Mash,Ziah, Nazza, Hojja Nasir, Momin

Its random because its not a collection of all the pics available. I'm not basing my figures on just one or two pics because 1 or 1 pics can be deceiving due to angles, player posture, etc.

^^ What does it have to be all the pic? Why do we need every pic available out there? Makes no sense. Just the ones where they're standing side by side is all you need to draw a comparison. If you say Mash is 6'1 and Raz is 5'11, based on that pic that looks about right. If anything these pic have more accuracy than your guesses, which seems random.

LOL exactly. But when I pointed out how off (or close) the guesstimates were with pic, they became random. But his own guess aren't random either.


You guys should ask BCB twitter to update their profile. Their twitter page seems professional and organized. I always thought BCB at least tries to be professional, they just don't know how to. I'm sure if they're told they can make it happen.

@BCBtigers you guys really should post players' official height and weight under their profile.

That's Al Furqaan to the right of Shakib (his left). I am 5-7 1/2 to be exact. Thus based on this random pic alone Shakib would be 5-10. That is why you need a large sample size of pics/video instead of one random pic taken from an angle that distorts reality.

Another tall player painfully weighed down by hate, and forced to appear short is none other than MH Shourobh. He also has bad posture, making him look like the shortest man on the team. No wonder he always looks so sullen.
