World Twenty20 - Bangladesh have clear-the-air talks

Eurosport - Sat, 20 Jun 11:02:00 2009

Bangladesh players met with a senior member of the national board to clear the air after unflattering comments were made about their performance at the Twenty20 World Cup.

Bangladesh lost to India and Ireland and were eliminated in the first round of the tournament in England.

The players threatened to boycott a tour of West Indies starting later this month after some senior officials castigated their performance.

"We have discussed everything amicably and removed whatever the misunderstanding we had with the Board. Now we will be focusing on upcoming West Indies tour," opener Zunaed Siddique said after the meeting.

Bangladesh will leave on June 29 for West Indies to play two tests and three one-day internationals.

"Those present at the meeting acknowledged that the situation had risen from simple misunderstanding and communication dysfunction," said BCB spokesman Rabeed Imam.

"The discussion was open and everyone emphasised on focusing the upcoming tour of West Indies. The outcome has been very positive."

yep thats funny. they cant win against team like ireland and they show attitude and with all the superstar mentality.

first improve your performance and then try to show some star power. I dont think any of Bd player has achieved that yet.

i think some players feel threatened by the ICL players presence.

Default threatening to not go to windies

so our beloved players threatened to not go to windies because of harsh words from critics....oh my god what a threat.
take them up on this threat,,,, let them not go and instead send a new squad made up from ex loyal professionals like md rafique and ICl boys like Alok and Aftab, Im sure they will do a better job than this lot.
Also it just proves the mentality of our boys.... if you criticise them they will threaten not to practice etc... everyone who works for blue chip companies in the west has a staff appraisal... does the manager of a business or a doctor in a hospital threaten to stop working if criticised?...
Could any of these boys leave bd cricket and get a job for a county cricket team or IPL team and get a match. Could they earn enough to have a £6000 curry delivered by helicopter in the real world?
Learn to love your country first and learn that playing for BD is a privilege , Bd does not need a cricket team to survive...we can scrap the team and put money into flood defence budget or food aid... Please knock some sense into the management and players.

Why do you think indian movies are such a hit in BD. They mess up reality with fiction and the result is a big mess.

lipu is right. kick them out. bangali only understands this language.

hit 5 centuries in local cricket or no more tours for you ashraful. perform or get lost.<< BCB should have been clear to him and every other player. we dont need communication and we dont need rabeed imam.

it's good that they're getting stern with the players but they shouldn't be hypocrits, they need to obide by the rules as well.

this whole mess has been totally a failed endeavor...trust a bangladeshi to mess everything up.

teams lose to lower ranked teams, it happens. we wouldn't have won 8 of our ODIs otherwise. its not the end of the world, especially in garbage cricket.

It seems that both West indies and Bangladesh have issues with their boards at the moment.
After the 20/20 WC batting fiasco against SL, the Windians is also getting a lot of heat from their board > neither Chris Gayle nor Sarwan wants the captaincy at the moment, so Ramdin may be the captain, unless the board can still woo Gayle to remain as captain.

strict criteria should be applied to everyone else, not just ashraful. why waste money on them, if they dont improve? scrap their tours, no more international exposure, no more IPL(they wont be selected there anyway), thats the only way, they can improve, if they ever can.
