5 game series, plenty of time to recall him, and possibly lift taibu's suspension if vermulean's the only batter that feels like scoring.

drop matsikinyeri and chibabha and replace them with taibu and forster and that is not a bad batting line up

You cannot be serious!! What happened today?
I in fact got scared off this thread, lost my sleep last night and voted 1-4 to ZIm on the poll
If this is the best Zim team, then your team management has serious issues with selection.

Please don't get carried away!
This is their first game after 5 months and they are a much better team than this.
They have made a mess by selecting eight batsmen and no frontline seamers.
They will pose more serious threat in the coming ODIs.

Well understood. In Zimbabwe, cricket and politics are the two sides of a coin.

To be true, I was kind of disappointed with the quality of production from the ZIM team in the first ODI. Usually with minimum warm-up matches, the visitors start slowly not the host team.
I was expecting much more competition from ZIM team.
Well its just a one game, and I understand that. So I will wait and see before trying judge the team based on just one game.

It was the best squad for Zimbabwe in a long time, but the XI chosen sure as hell wasn't the best if what I read is correct.
Anyway, I hope our players don't get complacant after todays carnage. 5-0 it should be.

That was the crappiest XI in they could've put together. I don't understand why Masakadza opened in the first place - Sibanda should've also been in the team. And what the hell was up with the pacers? Chibhabha was slower than Rasel. Definitely needed more seam bowlers.

Give the team a breather. They were trying to find their feet, also their heavy defeat of BD in the warmup game made them a bit complacent, now they know what the real BD team is all about, so I think that they will regroup and we will see closely contested matches from now on, so let us fasten our seat belts.

Price - Utesa were handled nicely by Ash. If Bd can win those battles, I don't think Zim can win. Be it Rainsford or anyone else. The spinners are the key in this series.

Yeah, I think we need to keep things in perspective. One game dont tell the whole story. Even the last series that we lost in Zimbabwe,, we were clear favorites beating them and all in a sudden everything started to go downhill. Had they had that Rain guy and Tamim/Zunaed/Ashraful lost their wickets in the first 10 overs ( which is always a possibility with their shot loving penchant), we wouldve struggled a bit. Yes, its all if/when/buts,,,at the end of the day, I will wait till the 3rd ODI to declare the conclusion. Lets not kid ourselves,,, we know Zimbabwe is much better than what we made them look like yesterday ( Although, I kinda loved the way we toyed with them,,, )

Zunaid has to try and be more consistent, also Tamim is capable of scoring a century, and Ash I believe will first pay a bit of respect to the bowlers, then begin to really score his runs.
Last ODI, a few good batsmen did not get to play, Ash should go in at No5, I think.

maybe so, but rainsford is their best pacer so it just seems silly to leave him out of the XI.

Even the best batsmen in the world are vulnerable during early overs, when they are not settled yet. That's why you should always take two pacers in the team even if they are useless later in the match. If Zimbabwe had two decent pacers to operate from both ends, I think they had much better chance to take more wickets in early overs thus make the run chase harder for us.
