Tasnim Jara - Bangladeshi Bride Stomps Traditions - No Make-ups, No Jewelry at Wedding

Quote:
More power to her!

Wherever in the world it is that you get married, a wedding is usually all about the bride. It’s an occasion for her to look glamorous, beautiful – and this she often achieves through expert make-up, a gorgeous outfit and sparkling jewellery.

In many Asian countries – especially in the Indian subcontinent – ultra-lavish outfits and extravagant gold and jewellery on the bride are often considered to be markers of her family’s wealth and social status.

Many families don’t think twice about spending huge amounts of money – sometimes even taking loans – in order to have a fancy wedding for their daughter that they can ill-afford.

Recently though, one Bangladeshi woman – Tasnim Jara – challenged the stereotype that brides should be dripping with gold and plastered in makeup on their wedding day.

It takes immense courage to break stereotypes in our part of the world, especially if you are a woman, glad that she is getting the recognition she deserves, wish her a blissful marriage life.

Haha good for her and even better for her husband's wallet. But how come so many international news outlet picked up the story? Especially considering, I haven't seen this news(lol) in local media. Oi bideshi journo gula dawat paisilo biyete mone hoy. 😁 Had this girl been a public figure, maybe it would have encouraged people to follow. All the brides in BD look the same because of the amount of make up put on them. But it's not like putting on make up on your wedding day is a crime of some sort.

Good for her. But I don't wanna be next to someone who doesn't go the extra mile to look their best during special occasions.

You don't have to wear expensive jewelry or heavy makeup but you should try to look as best as possible.

I am sure a girl wouldn't like it if the guy decided to get married wearing a lungi.

One should aspire to conform to their own culture. There is nothing sexier than that in my opinion.

Regardless of race, I would love it if the girl who is marrying me wears our traditional wedding dress and not a shada gown. YUCK!

Going by many posts in this site... Husband cooking seems to be the norm. What do Bangladeshi girls/bride do these days? USELESS....

they don't wanna cook
they don't wanna work
they don't wanna have kids, if they do, they want someone else to take care of it
they don't wanna have sex
they don't wanna listen
They don't wanna clean or do laundry or do house work
All they wanna do is use facebook, have thousands of friends, go out with some of them (mostly guys) and spend YOUR money.
But if YOU as the guy use facebook, go out with friends (guy, forget about girls) - their crazy jealousy clingyness manifests itself....

Welcome to the Millenial age. I'm surprised Buzzfeed hasn't picked up on this:

"21 reasons Tasnim Jara is all of us."

"40 reasons Tasnim Jara is bae"

"This Fearless Bride decided to not wear makeup, kicks chuvanisms a$$"

"10 women who defied patriarchy: #2 Malala Yusufzai, #1 Tasnim Jara"

I have a simple solution. Don`t get married.

There are other ways to satisfy your need, just take a look at iDumb`s sig.

This reminds me of the Pepsi Ad, with Kendall Jenner, minus the controversy.

I am an observational commenter ... and often time write from experience of me and others around me ....

I really think Bangladeshi girls today are one of the worse spouses/gf ... there has been a major shift in the psyche that is dangerous and too far extreme at another side..

The last golden era of Bengali girl were in my opinion was our mother generation ...those 50 up ... to some extent 40 plus somewhat holds those values ..... the shift occurred in 20 plus psyche..my bat dying will finish later
